This is actually a huge topic and I wish I thought of it earlier. In what way does LotJ drive you bananas? How should we be doing things smarter and more efficiently?

An example of this would be the wake command when you logged in. We’ve fixed that, of course, but that was just a silly little thing that made you type WAKE when you logged in? Why? Obviously you’re logging in to play the game. You’re not there to sleep!

Please feel free to post issues as silly and benign as the wake command and as complex and important as the restore system (and everything in between)

For me it is how wonky the AFK flag is.

The original idea behind the last major AFK flag update was that people who were AFK would have no idea what is going on IC, but would still be able to chat OOCly etc. What ended up happening is that they could not use the ‘look’ command while AFK. I think this came up in one of the many other current flags, but AFK players need to have a teensy bit more separation. They shouldn’t see channels like talk or clan (because you are AFK!)

I wouldn’t like to see it be no clan or talk channels, many time i leave my computer for five to ten minutes, come back, see the logs, and see people were trying to rp with me. I think it is especially important for a leader, considering sometimes it could be a make or break situation. I know it is not realistic, considering if we miss hear something we do not get a second chance irl to hear it unless it is repeated, but at the same time, if someone goes to take a piss, and has to afk for a few seconds, someone could have been looking for them, they could have been waiting for a response, anything.

      1) Wishing people (including myself) would learn from their frickin’ mistakes at least one time.

      2) OOC Channel. ‘Nuff said.

      3) Attempting to get a hold of an Immortal as an RPC member can sometimes be just as frustrating as doing so on a mortal. Should I start using the assist command there too?

      4) Double-fuckin-standards… specifically, the second of two "Joke Rules," Rule 14 (the first of two "Joke Rules" being Rule 4 of course).

      5) "Perm them and let the RPC sort them out." (Yes I know I’ve said this on multiple occassions. Doesn’t mean I’ve stopped hating it)

      6) Clans who intentionally or unwittingly forget they have jail cells.

      7) People who don’t keep logs (specifically directed at those who find themselves in a perming situation).

something I hate that can’t be coded pertaining to clans = leaders who show up for an hour a day every day, refuse to give any empowerments to anyone who has been there for a while, and relly on 2-3 people to run the company for them when they are not online. I know that not everyone has all day to be online, but not everyone should be a clan leader. If they can’t trust players to follow SPYAPP and actually let some people do some shit like sell ships, and use clan_message, and they have such a limited timeframe, they should not be leaders.

I think clan_message should be removed. End of story. It’s hardly used for any decent RP purpose and serves as another medium for clans to talk shit to eachother in childish fashion.

Wait. I take that back. I know children who come up with better shit talk than half the garbage that’s spewed over clan_message.

I’ve seen legitimate uses of clan_message, and though I think we can live without it, I think it would be a better idea to have clan leaders enforce some level of discipline and have imms beat up the clan leaders who don’t.

And yeah. People who don’t have logs. Fuck you forever. Especially certain people who perm on a regular basis and "oh, my computer just restarted" and "oh, my client just crashed" and "oh, I saved those but I don’t remember where" and "oh, I forgot to save it today!" EVERY GODDAMN TIME. You know who you are.

I’m not saying go back to the "whoever has worst logs loses" rule (that was stupid and lead to a lot of injustice), but there needs to be some drawback to people who seemingly always have an "oopsie" with their logs and yet perm people all the damn time. Particularly when they rage on RPC because the case didn’t go their way.

I agree. Alot. I also agree with afk players being more separated from the gameworld. This could be achieved with a compromise of adding in a timer. After you’ve been afk for let’s say 15minutes, your character gets disconnected/rendered unable to see anything going on in the game. Also, a counter-measure must be put in to prevent people from afking with timers to reset it.

As I was before, I’m against the seperating of AFK players from the mud that much. If you want to be that kind of AFK, just log off. But maybe that’s just how I use AFK… I’ll AFK for hours if I’m waiting for something to do (a person on Zero wanting whatever I’m selling/making/offering on my current character, or a clan member wanting to chat, or my latest pair of Twi’lek loveslaves begging for attention, or whatever) and don’t want to get ganked. If I can’t see talk/clan when I’m AFK, what am I going to do when I’m half-playing while writing or coding or whatever? Log the fuck off, and let whoever needs me go unhelped. And I’m certain I’m not the only one like that.

AFK should be a safety net, not a closet to hide in.

One of the AFK issues I’ve run into several times is when you’re pondering/botting, run into the level that forces you to do something (desc/alignment) and you end up going AFK. You can’t come back from that. You have to get an IMM to set you back. The system won’t let you do anything that isn’t related to fixing that one thing and it won’t let you do that while you’re AFK, but you can’t come back from AFK because its not related to fixing that one thing. I know this is most likely something thats really rare to happen, but I’ve had it happen three or four times now.

Another huge issue for me, as mentioned in previous other threads, how come some skills can be at 100% and fail a whole lot (locateship), others can be at 100% and never fail ever. Others can be at 90% and never go up no matter if you use them 1,000,000 times (fly, monitor_camera) .

I’m often annoyed by the lack of available player homes larger than one room.

That being said, it’d be great if bigger homes scaled up in price, as well.

Anna’s Edit: DCLXVI reminded forum readers that should they not like the conversation that is going on on the OOC channel, that they have the power to turn OOC off. He was concerned that some people didn’t realize that, hence the reminder that I’m now editing. =)

With that out of the way, I would like to say I use AFK the same way Drel does. If I got nothing going on, I’ll go AFK, and do something else, checking back here and there to see if someone has been asking for me or needs me.

I’m also annoyed at the lack of sellship. I know it was removed to prevent people from abusing chop shops, but seriously. Let us sell our freaking ships. Find a way to make it so you can sell if you have used up a certain portion of the quota. If it has a lot of quota available, then you can’t sell it. If you’ve used up, say, 90% (maybe 95%?) of it or more, then you can sell it. Too easy imo. Too easy.

There are other things that annoy me, but I can’t recall any and will post again if/when I remember. In the mean time, going back to my movie. <!– s:lol: –><img src="{SMILIES_PATH}/icon_lol.gif" alt="" title="Laughing" /><!– s:lol: –>

Yeah you’re right about this. We disabled it a few years ago and it just kind of slipped through the radar. I added it to Mantis so its on the scope

launch confirm. seriously WHY? also endurance, carnage, clarity and everything else that forces you to wait for it to run out before you can rebuff. having to time player combat carefully by waiting for something to hit 0 rounds is moronic.
