TBH this thread needs to be moved to General Discussion and merged with the "IC Things that Annoy Me" thread. Then renamed to "Bitch Bitch Bitch."

The player perception still won’t change. There are so many players here that have been here for ‘years’ and know what the actual cost of ‘creation’ and the ‘normal profit margin’ of ships is that unless everyone forces their prices up for some unknown tax or something they will know something is up. Also, there will be people that still sell for that cheap low profit margin to get business, it’s the way the business world works.

No, that’s the way player run economics work. Most players have no concept of the basics of economics.

I really don’t see how profit factors in, considering every engi clan racks up a billion credits that just sits there doing nothing(Yes yes, develop. Shut up.)

Engi clans rack up those high credit values because they start running cargo, not based on great ship sales

In the end, the easiest way to raise the prices of ships is the immortals to make the parts and blueprints cost more.

Then why does it matter what ships cost if the engy companies end up rolling around in endless piles of credits they never spend anyway? As long as they MAKE ships, it shouldn’t matter if they’re a loss-leader or not.

That doesn’t make a damn bit of sense Fishy. Whats the point of even making the ships then? Just to be friendly for the rest of the galaxy? Thats like saying "I’m rich as hell, I might as well just give my product away as long as I’m still able to make credits in another way." The point is that engineering clans all eventually realize, that of all the things they could be doing to make credits, building ships is almost at the very bottom of the list. Until engineering clans adjust their prices, and players get over this new increase in prices, this will continue to happen. If this continues to happen, people will continue to bitch that there’s nobody around selling ships.

The point? How about that this is a damned game. Making credits in LotJ is fucking easy — maybe too easy. Especially now that questing is the main form of leveling, and questing pays credits.. If you don’t want to make ships, don’t roll an engineer, or don’t join an engineering company, or whatever. People pick whatever role they pick to play because they enjoy it, not cuz they think they’ll make the fastest credits. What’s the point in having a rich character if it’s not even a character you like? If you don’t like what you’re doing, stop doing it.
(On a side note, I’m personally very fond of public shuttles.)

As long as the leaders aren’t retarded, engineering companies will always have fuckloads more credits than anyone or any clan in the game. If they priced the ships to make a large profit, nobody but engineering companies could afford them.
That being said, the purpose of engineering companies is to make shit, not really earn a massive profit (since there’s nothing to spend it on) and it’s shocking how many engies and engineering companies don’t MAKE a damn thing, being much too busy rolling in massive piles of useless credits.
Credits don’t need to be harder to earn, they just need to be more able to be spent.

I can see it now. 500,000 per engine part, 2,000,000 per piece of hull.

I’ve figured it out. You guys have pretty much fallen into the "engineer companies are my bitch and are here to work for us and do whatever we tell them to do" mindset. Think about what you’re saying here, "engineering clans are here to make ships for us and who cares if they can profit off of it, because they can profit doing something else on the side." Why not just have shops that sell fully built ships and just cut out the engineering clan as a whole? Do this and you’ll have even more people in the major clans.

Or.. a better idea.. implement a way to custom design/build ships away from blueprints.. So custom such ships could sell for ‘more’ for personal buyers.

Okay.
…Though in the end it’ll only hurt the people who would otherwise be in engineering companies. People who ENJOY playing an engineer.

How in the hell did all this deteriorate?
Engineers are pretty much the heart and lifeblood of nearly everything that goes on in game. There’s no denying that. As such, if they want to turn a profit on selling ships, who the hell cares? THEY are the ones making it, so THEY are the ones who should be able to price it. If they price it too low to where they don’t turn a profit, that’s their own fault. Yet everytime they try to balance it back out, EVERY SINGLE ONE of the PBase starts bitching whining and moaning about "Oh fuck the engie clans!"
TL;DR Version -> Their products, their prices, NOT yours.
