It would be cool to have more space stations in Lotj, right now all you see is the usual building platform type space station of engineering clans, and every so often a crime clan will have a private space station set up in a random sector. Why can’t we have a few space stations that can have shops, bars, hotels, maybe a few quests and items available to the players on them? Especially between long jumps like to Tatooine. Not to mention the fact that you could make players utilize more and more planets, most players tend to stay on the same planets and do there thing. That is fine in its own right, but if space stations were implemented you could have a few quests that sent players to Alderaan, Naboo, and other lesser traveled planets with more frequency.
A large amount of stations wouldn’t be required either, possibly 2 or 3 would make it all worth while. I do not know if this would be a huge pain for coders and builders but I think it would be cool to have certain non-planet refugees that players can run too. It would also be cool if they could be sabotaged or captured. If you are a new crime clan, you could break into the "command center" of the space station and fight through some guards or whatever to be able to control it. Making it kinda like a temporary base that you could hold for ransom, or kill the power to it etc…
Let me know what you guys think.

Personally, I would like to see "Rest Stop" space stations. It would add a little bit of dynamic to the rather dull usage of space stations at the moment. It’s either a build platform or a planet unto itself (Arakyd Industries anyone?). Having a pit stop on the route to a long flight would be interesting I think.
As for anything else… there really isn’t much you can do unless you want to make some kind of floating museum or standard military checkpoint (Good for Empire, but hard as hell to enforce unless you start putting gravwells along hyperspace routes).

I remember there was this one space station for some kind of engineering company, I think. I played security there for a while.
I really like space stations, because they usually have that neutrality familiar to Cloud City. Also, mobile/platform bases are awesome.
I’m all for more space stations. Maybe some hidden asteroid bases. Underground facilities. Let’s Star Wars it up.

Arakyd was a fully supplied station the planet had 3 purposes. It was meant to land without having to open and shut and it was meant to be used for broadcasting. Walldo tried to set up broadcast via ship and code did not allow it at the time. It was a work around. The actual planet was only 4 rooms, 3 pads and a broadcast room. The rest was coded ship. intercom worked and if the ship blew up you died. Finally when I built the thing I more or less stole the idea from the old CSE wheel. I was in love with that base and wanted my own for Arakyd. Difference was I built Arakyd to my specs.

Me wantee.
Especially the way-station idea. Two or three would be perfect. Only having one would make it too unique, more than four would just be too damn many. About 5 or 10 rooms, maybe. A landing pad or two, a safequit, some hallways, maybe some sort of lounge-type area.
For the Empire, a couple of mobile enforcement stations would be nice, sort of like the whole mobile station gravity well doodad last Era 3. Would have to be designed in such a way that it’s safe enough that it actually gets used for enforcement and not just tugged around as an accessory, but still vulnerable enough that it isn’t a magic bullet that gets used to wipe out all possible opposition. Hm, maybe make them unmoveable, like fixed points on one or two of the most high-traffic routes, and then interior design in such a way that it’s not suicide to bring people into the ‘capture bays’ to do ship inspections and stuff.

I like what fishy is saying, it would make it the whole enforcing of space routes a lot more legit, like cargo running spice or weapons? The jettison cargo command is never used, and people run that stuff freely because no one enforces it. It would be cool if they left cargo running the same but maybe some of these space stations could inspect ships or whatever if they were run by the major governing clan at the time. Maybe coders could even add a new cargo pod called "HiddenCargo" or something like the Millenium Falcon had. That might be hard, but it would be cool.

Everything Fishy is saying sounds awesome.. like really awesome. The more the Empire tries to control the players, the better the conflict between the Imperials and the Rebels (as long as the rebels don’t just get crushed… then I guess there’s no conflict).
Anyway, on a slightly unrelated note, is there currently a way to check how much of what kind of cargo is currently stored in a ship? Other than selling it?

Yeah it would make the conflicts way better, if immortals look at this and think about inputting space stations I will help write room descriptions or anything like that. And Kora you type listcargo, you have to be in the cockpit or outside the ship I believe but it will tell you what you are carrying etc…

It [i:3d9jngc3]would[/i:3d9jngc3] be something logical like that, wouldn’t it…? >_>

I like the ideas here, I’m gonna build a concept station today I think.

For the longest time, I’ve wanted to have a sort of smuggler’s port. A place that has no governing clan.

Yes. That would be sweet. …And this, I’m sure, would be next to impossible to code, but if it roamed that would make it even more awesome. Something so that it’s difficult to find for anyone who "shouldn’t" be there (law enforcement). I’d love to see something where the coordinates are only shared through word of mouth, and they change so that you need to maintain your ties to LotJ’s underground or lose your access to the port. …Of course that brings up the issue of who would know originally, so that they can spread the information to other smugglers.
