      help spacestation
PLATFORM SPACESTATION STATION ORBITAL PLATFORMS FACILITY SATELLITE DSMF GOLAN
Warning: This is new aspect and feature of LotJ and as such these rules are
highly likely to change with only some notice as playertesting continues.

Space stations, include satellites, platforms, space facilities and other types
of immobile ships with speeds of 0 or 1.

They fall into two broad types private and publicly owned.

Publicly owned space stations are those deployed by the immortal staff and are
normally set as ‘invincible.’ Examples would be the Roche asteroids and Aurea
Station. Other examples could potentially be orbital hotels or skyhooks.

Privately owned space stations are quite different.

Privately owned spacestations are the most common type and are those owned by
player clans. These stations essentially follow the same rules as found in help
capitalrules, except with a few major differences.
Private space stations are NOT required to be located in orbit of a planet for
capitalrules to be in effect. However, for those stations to be protected by
the rules, they must be located in a Planets star system. A station in deep
space is there at its own risk.

As the term space station is so broad, there are many ways that they can come
into the mud. Some are constructed similiarly to normal ships and are then
released by the use of special Station Deployment Craft. These ships are owned
by engineering clans and are kept in Immortal Command to ONLY to be used for
the purpose of deploying them. Simply contact an IMM when you wish to use one
to deploy a station out of planetary orbit and they will trans the ship to you.

There are currently no limits for the number of stations major clans can have
in each system, this may change in the future. They do however contribute to
      minor clans clanlimits.

The Goal: The aim of space stations is to bring f

      urther life to the spacescape
of Legends of the Jedi by increasing variation. There is also hopes that they
will bring a new strategic element to naval warfare and there should be a wide
variety of clever ‘tricks’ you can pull off with them with careful deployment.
They should also aid in illustrating the ‘march of technology’ in the mud as
slowly, over the eras, and with a little help from builders, new types come
available eventually culminating in some pretty impressive things later in the
      game.

Been there for 2 years, hardly ever been used. Basically, you want more space stations, design, desc and build them and with some tweaks (they could complement capitalship_ownership REALLY well) it could work with the modern LOTJ.

I’ve always liked the thought of attacking a planet being a real battle, like a historical siege. The attackers needing to get past the outer ring of defenses – mine fields, defence satellites then eventually Golan platforms of a heavily defended world before capturing it. Something more than the ‘all or nothing’ approach that’s more common right now.
