The reasoning for the regeneration is two-fold: Taung (the near-Human species of Mand’alor the First) as actually being more resistant to damage than Humans, and the intense training of later Mandalorians could conceivably allow them to shrug off a bit of damage, too. Now, the reason it’s regeneration, and not damage resistance? I don’t know. It might’ve been for balance, because damage resistance is way more useful–and way more rigged–than regeneration. It might’ve been easier to code (though I doubt that; damage resistance can be done with flags builders have access to).

Without doing a bit of research into the EU on Noghri tracking (it’s been months since I’ve touched a Star Wars book; my EU knowledge has faded a bit), an easy solution would be to have them able to use the "track" skill on the blood pools that wounds cause, without knowing the names of the people.

Orion told me once he put in regen for mandos because Canderous had it in Kotor. But if you pay attention canderous’s regen was from a cyber he had.

Very rarely in the most solid canon SW sources (or even the ghastly Clone Wars cartoon, where so angry with Mandalorians was George Lucas that thus he spoketh, and turneth them into flower-wielding sissies) will you see lovely little rodian or Jawa mandalorians, or zabrak mandalorians, or wookiee mandalorians. Mandalorians in these depicted sources are of a uniform humanoid build, and its only when you read the most obscure of comics or fan literature that they branch out. As far as anyone need ever be concerned on LotJ the ‘Mandalorian’ race refers to those human tribes of Mandalorians that live on Mandalore, Concord Dawn, etc etc. People are not allowed to roleplay Mandalorians unless they are specifically the ‘Mandalorian’ race, nor will they be in the future.
When it boils down to it, the reason LotJ has no Cathar mandalorians, or Whiphid mandalorians, or Toong mandalorians is this:
It’s fucking dumb.

I put a suggestion in Mantis about regeneration the other day, actually. Remove it from Mandalorians and leave it/add it to the races that actually had it in some form. Make it so it’s not as powerful as it is and it only works outside of a fight when the person with it is resting, basically. Instead of the 1500(?) per tick, it would do somewhere between 1 and 5 times normal, outside of bacta regeneration when in a resting state per tick… and maybe help heal wounds faster or something?

Oh, and fuzzy races should have a resistance to cold. Whiphids should probably have an immunity.

Also, about the regen. I agree with adding a larger variety of them in game. Right now we got 2 + stunregen, and while I don’t support taking it away from mandos and abyssin (simply because it’s been there forever and it doesn’t always have to be canonically correct in order to emphasize the natural resistance and brutal strength of a race), I am in favor of adding a speedier recovery regen for let’s say Trandoshans. Basically regening 100ish HP every 50 seconds or so when not fighting.

Trandoshans lose their uber-regen during puberty…

If puberty was after a child char was promoted to adult, we wouldn’t have that giant rule about no child chars having sex…

Uh.. what? You mean it’s okay to have sex with somebody who hasn’t hit puberty yet? I’m going to pretend I didn’t read that.Besides, I was kidding.

I just see a very strong prohibition against a not-racial mandalorian joining the mandos through RP, which I think is silly. Canonically they do accept other races (if you want to say it’s rare, that’s fine), but on LotJ, I don’t think I’ve ever seen any not-racial-mandos rolling with the mandos, the closest we’ve come is Corellians in armor, 2 eras after all the mandos were dead.. And some silly Togruta.

Something minor, but maybe a the ability for Geonosians to determine whether they have wings (hover/fly) or no wings.
The wingless could get a bonus to engineering, science and medical but penalties to combat, leadership and diplomacy as they were the laborers.
The winged could get bonus’ to combat, leadership and diplomacy and a penalty to engineering, science and medical as they were more aristocratic and the soldiers.
This +/- could all be figured out amongst the rest of you, as could the bonus’ and to which classes but it’s just something to give them a little more flair. Could even take it as far as a caste system where the bonus’ and penalties pend on the caste they were born into: laborer, warrior or noble. *shrugs*

how about adding coding a channel then for verpine only that would allow them to talk but now let any one in the room see that any one is talking? I to would like to see a verpine channel that would allow us to communicate, that or code a way for verpine only to not need a comlink because they could use there ability to rerad and send radio waves.

how about a way to allow verpine’s teach skills to other verpines at 100% as verpines can give the knowledge to others almost like it is done in the matrix because of there ability to send and receive signals directly to there minds.
-
January 21, 2012 at 12:38 pm #18411
Verpines teaching to 100%, I would not agree with. It would make them the best teachers in game for nearly everything, and everyone would pick a verpine and they would become app only eventually.
How about cathar having a bonus to their unarmed attacks. Treat there unarmed attacks as a blade attack, except it rips you open and stuff. Blades could still be better, but if a blade breaks, their claws can do an above average amount of damage. May actually be appropriate for more than one race.
Give a some races night vision. This may actually be appropriate for more than one race, not sure.
