I like the system how it is, honestly. I’ve found that swipe (espionage level 20) works as well as steal for removing clothes from an unconscious player. You still have to hit them while they’re stunned to make them drop the items, but it’s a way low-smuggling characters can get this done. If you can’t manage 20 espionage or 40 smuggling, your race is probably one of those so mentally deficient they couldn’t realistically strip someone without killing them.

The current thing is kind of ok, but I’d like to see the empowerment more, just like Korr said. Perhaps Walldo’s idea + empowerment in a clan would work well. together. After all, being a jailer is an important task. <!– s:P –><img src="{SMILIES_PATH}/icon_razz.gif" alt="

Something that could be used to prevent abuse of the command would be it being logged each time it’s used. That way if during, say, a bombardment someoneA gets stunned, and someoneB walks along and quickstrips them and runs off with their booty while the bombardment’s still going on, and someoneA knows their shit’s gone but they don’t know who took it because they were unconscious, if they talk to the immortals it would be a cinch to track them down.
I think the empowerment-only suggestion is a -bad- idea. Bad bad bad. What Kora said about bounty hunter races not being able to steal should be like, reason number 1-A for quickstrip. Giving it solely to clans would just encourage more clan-inwardness, and not to mention headaches, for clans. If it was only an empowerment, it would only be given to a -few- certain people. And sure, steal is still there, but it’s time consuming and sucks for both parties. Wasn’t that what prompted the idea of this skill in the first place?

The ideal way to prevent abuse is to not have to involve the imms. Really, steal works perfectly for this as it is.

To tell the truth i never really understood the mugging rules, there would be ‘muggers’ in the SW Universe. I can agree it may become more predominant here because alot of people end up using the mindset of a 12 year old to play their characters but punishing people for playing as a thieving type character shouldn’t be against the rules. Everyone has passed comment that they don’t want their character to die after they spend 48 hours leveling and gearing it upto a standard that is acceptable, why not allow them to be robbed of their possessions, usually the robbers are informed to the IC government and chased until they’re either caught or dead and its kept to a minimum.
It seems like something that was added to the rules from personal experience from a higher up more than to stop people being asshats. This has to be the first mud i’ve actually played on that has numerous skills to steal peoples stuff but then puts a massive limit on when and how you can actually steal off people… Just seems stupid really.
P.S. Sorry for the derail but QS started it <!– s:twisted: –><img src="{SMILIES_PATH}/icon_twisted.gif" alt="" title="Twisted Evil" /><!– s:twisted: –>

Really – the only way you are limited is in that you can’t mug.
When you have gear that is very PK oriented, and for instance say you win something or have something rare – that’s like painting a huge target on your back cause anyone who knows about it and wants to PK is going to gun for you.
Other than that – if I’m not missing something – you can steal whatever.

I don’t see this as a bad thing though, alot of popular people will have more people "gunning" for them because they’re just that, notorius and well known. I bet alot of people wanted Fett’s Slave ships but he hung onto them from all comers. Doesn’t mean people didn’t try to take other peoples things just because they were well known and had "unique" gear.
It’d be something as more of a proof of supremacy to hang onto said item than just have rules that allow said people to remain super powerful when wearing unique item. It puts people on a more even playing field and means if you can get it, you’re the new king of the castle. At the moment there is very little for BHers or combatants to do except get in an opposing clans and just shoot each other on rare occasions. The whole BH thing has gone out the window because you’ve got super characters that can’t/won’t die or people that just sit in safe places and never show their face when a bounty comes up on them.
Perhaps the Arena needs to make an appearance or something(Previous things that seem to of been thrown on the back burner. As it stands if you aren’t in the only Major clan you’ll be having less of a chance at an impact.(Yes i know there is the upstarts but limited rp between <5 people is hardly mud wide enjoyment.)

This one really poked me in the eye. It’s far, far, FAR from the truth.
