It’s the hack ‘n’ slash only coders who do that. People who actually like to RP will use it. And if it’s ENFORCED, like it should be on an [b:byo8s55o]RP-ENFORCED[/b:byo8s55o] MUD, then it will be done correctly.

No, even the RPERS would hardly use it. IMMs dont force people to post on this mud and this mud is rp and pk so get over yourself. RP is enforced and for the most part it happens. But something like shipmote is alot of codeing effort for something maybe 5 people would use and forget about later.

Explain your definition of ‘RP-Enforced’.

For me, in my experience, RP-enforced mean you HAVE to RP including WELL-written, EMOTES, not just says and socials. If you didn’t RP, it didn’t happen and your slasher crap is reversed and you should learn to RP. On lotj we dont force people to do long ass mush type poses. They happen they are fun but this is a learning mud as well as haveing advanced players. We mix code and rp here we dont look down on people who come hear for the neat code or look down on people who only rp (this is a lie btw since alot of players do holler stupid pkers or stupid posters). On lotj rp enforced is you develop your charector motives and goals. If someone deserves to die by your charecters motives you can kill them and its considerd rp (Just because victem was not part of the rp does not mean it dident happen). If your person is found to have motives to be a serial killer without imm consent they are usally found out and slayed helled or what ever. By imm consent is if a imm allows a killer on the loose as an event or something for other people to hunt down and capture/kill.

That’s hardly the &quot;exception&quot;. Being able to emote does NOT make you an excellent RPer. It never has, and never will. I’ll admit it may help enhance it when used properly, but it is NOT a requirement to RP. Saying you HAVE to emote for ANYTHING you do to be considered RP is, simply put, ignorant and made by people full of themselves. Not only that, but it makes you sound like those &quot;elitist&quot; players who proclaimed Hapes RP was better simply because they all emoted 50285 lines for everything.

As I said editting my last post, I really am not against the idea, but the supporting reasonings for it are complete and utter crap.

I think it grew more out of people who were MU-raised on MUSHes, Gathorn, not that they think they’re better. They’re just used to it more.

You’re right, emotes don’t make you a better RPer, but some people just straight-up can’t RP, emote/social/say, but say they can because they do it a lot.

I started on on LOTJ when I started playing RP MUDs.

Gathorn, when I said make shipcombat more RP oriented. I meant scrap the entire coded combat system for ship to ship, and turn it all into RP. Spamming attacks is repetative, and annoying. But I don’t see this ever happening, 95% of LOTJ is now hack’n’slash rather then RP, IMO. Or More Botting then RP. And has completely fallen from what I used to remember.

With that said, I don’t care what people say about my opinion of the MUD now, I stand by it.

Back on topic, the original thought for this was more for shipmoting to land ot entering realspace, and hanging around in space when you’re stuck and can’t leave/land due to a blockade + a ship battle. Now it’s blantantly obvious who RPs alot and who doesn’t compared to the reactions on this thread, so I retract this idea, and ask for this thread to be locked. Since half the posters on this thread don’t seem to give one shit about having an interesting command.

I’ve fucking had it. I could do a big big speech about how much LOTJ’s RP is dead. But noone would listen. Noone would even care. They’d probably make fun of it. So please, someone lock this thread. Use the excuse of my own derailling. I’m completely fucking done now. And tired of all my RP-oriented ideas being shot down by assholes.
