Seriously. If you’ve got a page full of things to research, it’ll take you all day. Does anyone /enjoy/ botting research all day? I think we could do without Research altogether, and just have practice at all library areas for everything but the forbidden skills. Let it practice up to a certain %, based on int and wis.

Yeah.. No. Research is there for more then just our convenience. It’s an RP tool, and it keeps the imms from having to have a trainer in all library areas. Without it, they would need to make like 400 practice mobs with every skill in the game to practice, and it would only take it to 20% anyway. I disagree that it’s pointless.

I still disagree that it should be removed. The MUD is an RP MUD, practicing stuff like that is meant for true Hack and Slash. Removing it pushes the MUD away from the half-rp half-pvp bit, and makes it more PVP. Which I’m sure a lot of people wouldn’t want to see. It would probably be abused in some way shape or form too.

The MUD is about 90% RP, 10% PVP right now anyways. Things need to be modified.

Sorry guys. That’s not one of the things that are going to change in the coming timeline. Maybe in the future we can address it. (Just so you know, I’m not putting any thought into whether I like the idea or not, so don’t tell me a year from now that I said yes to this.)

What game are YOU playing? From what I see, there’s more PKers then RPers floating around. And people who care more about levels then character development. And Yeah, I wasn’t expecting it to be changed period. XD

Try just stopping in a public area and RPing with someone. Anyone. You’d be surprised.

You do realize that all research is is a spammed command that you have to grind, basically WoW style, right? I personally believe it’s pointless and should train to a high level of skill (Which you’ll eventually do anyway — just research it a bunch of times..) and is, truly, a pain in the ass when you have a lot of skills to train?

Actually, this does nothing but DISCOURAGE RP even further by taking up even more time levelling.

      I don’t see how you think insta-practice is a ‘Pro-PKers’ thing.

      Exactly! Thank you!

So, walking into a room and typing prac navigation is better? I never said it was a insta-pro-PK thing either. I’m saying researching is more realistic then typing prac navigation. It sounds to me you just want convenience as opposed to realism.

Besides, Anna already said this isn’t going to change anytime soon.

The problem is research is coded so if you are at the skill level to get the skill you are researching (Your 15 slicer and researching showclan) Research fails alot. This is not random, walldo told me its coded that way. So you have a couple choices. Level and reseach at the same time, wich is slow. Or cap out your levels and research all the skills. Also slow. I think imms should take out the level restriction on research and keep it pure % based and not level. This would speed things up alot.

Most of the people that don’t enjoy practicing for 20 years are the people that want to get out and roleplay faster, not the playerkillers.

      …fail.
That’s about as wrong as you get.
For one, there is nothing ANYWHERE that says you have to have your skills researched/practiced to rolepay.
Also, on the whole, it’s not the playerkillers that don’t RP–they have to, or else they’re ATTEMPTED playerkillers.
Overall, it’s the slicers, the engineers, the doctors–they’re the ones that bitch, not the "roleplayers."

.. More than once I’ve asked someone if they wanted to roleplay only to get ‘No, I’m <levelling, practicing, studying>, sorry.’ back in my face.
