Making mines permanent and able to be placed in ships would make flying suicidal.

Edit: Espescially since there’s no way to tell if there’s one there without setting it off, no way to tell who layed it, and no way to tell who gets blown up.

      Remote controlled droids could always..

      I hint hint to Rojan.

But as I said, about placing them in rooms, when laying a mine it would actually have to remove the object and flag the room.

Not being able to see mines and having no way of finding out who set them is annoying.

Sorry, slightly off topic, but it’s sort of going with the flow and I think it’s a valid point…

I’d agree with the seeing mines thing. It would be an interesting feat, perhaps–more useful than the "lulz, I can see cameras" one (which you can already do with monitor_camera, in a roundabout way).

As for being able to see who set them–NO. The only thing remotely approaching applicability would be some function to allow you to see who MADE the mine–but, even then, I’d still say no. While the FBI, etc. can create bomb "profiles," that’s just a comparison to past bombs of the same manufacturing design, due to bombers having "signatures," et al. Perhaps a skill to allow you to see what the mine’s name after the fact?

I meant knowing who laid the mine OOCly for the RPC to restore all the people who would get blown up by mines laid in every single ship in the game within an hour of the persistent mine code going live.
