Different things about the combat system, from battlegrouping to weaponry, seems somewhat incomplete, and account for many of the player-bug complaints.
Please put your suggestions for how some of these features can be fixed or modified…the first of these involves usage of bowcasters.
Without giving too much away, bowcasters are now fully able to be crafted by players, though only those with 24+ strength can use them. As you might notice, the damage cap on bowcasters is a bit higher, and the accuracy is also better. They are also not dual-wieldable…we won’t tell ya where to find quarrels, though. ;p
This is I think the first of upgrades to the combat system, but I very much hope not the last. Suggestions here, please.

Fuck yeah bowcasters. Sniper heaven.
Let’s see. Put back in Disruptors. Make blasters capable of being made into a pistol, or rifle ( I know this is more like engineering, but still. Dual wield VS. Single, come on. I hate seeing dual wield rifles) Combat seems way too long to me. I vote for raising the overall damage cap on blasters and/or putting back in 3rd attack. Just me though.

I’m definitely sure. It can make or break a situation. Perfect for a criminal if he /really/ wants to get away. He will either bone himself or…get away. I think it would be awesome and just add another dynamic.

Besides getting defunct weapons (force pikes, different grenade types, flamethrowers) online, I would most like to see the usual expansion talk for blasters and/or vibro-blades. IE, instead of just making ‘a blaster’ engineers could make a hold out pistol, Regular pistol, sporting blaster, rifle, carbine, so on and so forth. If you want more details on the semantics of this just ask, i’m sure I have it saved on my HDD somewhere.

I would like to see BLASTER CLASSES. For like the 500th time,
. Pistols. Carbines. Rifles. Etc etc. Two-handed blasters. Enough of the:
<wielded> An E-11 Blaster Rifle
<dual-wielded>An E-11 Blaster RifleI want to see:
<wielded in both hands> An E-11 Blaster RifleOr something of the sort, call me a complainer but hey. I’ve brought this up several times, as well as alot of people before me.
EDIT: Didn’t completely read Walldo’s post, my mistake. I just repeated what he said, but eh. It stil stands!

OH, also, add Master vibro-blades to combatants at level 150 and add an AC modifier to bounty hunters so they don’t get jipped. So that combatants aren’t forced into using blasters to be ‘effective’ and bounty hunters aren’t jipped. Since alot of the best BH races can’t wear armor anyway (Defel, wookies, twi’lek’s can’t wear helms etc)

Actually, Wookiees are known to wear armor. Traditional Wookiee Armor. Look it up. And Defel have been known to wear armor as well, also no one really plays most the decent BHer races. Also, Wookiees suck at BHer with a bounty hunting modifier of -45.
So, Yeah, wookiee’s aren’t one of the best BHer races. You got your facts wrong, bud.

I like you Flippy. Not about the numbers.
But yeah, I think, at one point or another, for at least three years, probably more, numerous, and by numerous I mean MOST, people have been screaming for classes on blasters. I would say, scrap everything else for now, get classes on blasters made. And you see, holdout blasters, easy to conceal, pistol, a little harder, carbine, almost impossible, rifle, completely impossibly. Lookee there, another dynamic for smugglers. By making these classes, you don’t just add another dynamic to combat. YOu add another dynamic to engineering, smuggling, bounty hunting, and combat.

In answer to a few things…
Combatants shouldn’t really have vibroblades, they already have mastery of every other weapon-type. It’s far harder to level/keep alive a BH’er, so they should have certain (though not massive) advantages over combatants…vibroblades should be one. So much of the BH’ers success lies in their ability to use vibroblades in LOTJ.
What I would see a few ideas on is the entire weapon system itself beyond just the mechanics, but also from an RP perspective. One idea that was tossed around recently was making it more realistic, as in restricting the availability of blasters, increasing their difficulty to make(both increasing the sales price for engineers), and making them far more powerful as a result. Blaster classes are *definetly* a great idea, though.
Ideally, players can’t just go up in any shop and just buy a pwnage blaster, they best most could get from a store is a holdout blaster. You might need a permit(coded or through building) to buy one, and only engineering firms can make the really good ones, and they’re a little harder to produce. Look at KOTOR, for example. Guns were a commodity restricted to criminals and military, others had to use force-pikes and vibros by and large.
And the last piece of it…weapon bonuses dependent on race, I.E. anyone can wield a vibroblade but Twi’leks might get extra attacks from it, Kaleesh(a warrior race I wanna see someday) use force-pikes better than most, and Wookiees get a bonus on bowcasters. It would encourage weapon variation.
Thoughts, folk?

I really really like the idea of cutting down on the amount of pwnsauceing blasters. Like, really. Too often that a soldier can be out and out gunned down by random joe dirtay. Combine the moderate-rarity of blasters with the blaster class system, and I think things could get a lot more fun. I really want to see some awesome criminal clans rise up, and if blasters are highly limited, trading in illegal arms will skyrocket. If of course you limit who engineering clans can sell to through RP/Building.
Want more criminals!

Yes. We need more criminals, more everything really. More players playing a variety of different races, and not just choosing them for levels. Look at jawas, see, they’re like an aboundance. When realisticly, jawas shouldn’t be all over the Core Worlds. They should be concentrated to Tatooine, and RARELY seen wandering the core. But GOING OFF TOPIC, am I.
I’ve been wanting Blaster classes for years now, I’m really tired of seeing people running amuck with uber blasters that incap you in one hit.. So all these ideas I like.
Hold-out: Weaker pistol, found all over the place and easy to conceal, like the one-bullet pistols they used in the old west.
Pistol: Slightly more powerful, found in alot of engineering shops. Harder to conceal, but easier to wield.
Carbine: Lightly powered rifle, two hands to wield, much stronger then a pistol but weaker then a rifle.
Rifle: Moderatly powered rifle, two hands, slower reloading rate, stronger then most blasters but harder to find on the streets.
Disruptor:NERFED. HIGHLY NERFED. Can only be used to snipe, or the recoil would be high.(Ok, that may not make sense, but people that’s what a forum is for. To share ideas.)
Light Repeating Blaster: Faster attacking rate, slower reload rate, and weaker damage.
Missile Launcher(Yes..it sounds bad..):You saw them in Jedi Knight: Jedi Academy, and in Battlefront 1&2 Missile Launchers. Way hard to find, heavy as hell, slowest reloading rate, lower ammo capacity. But strong enough to take out an ground-to-air turret.
Grenades. We need different varieties. Stun, Frag, Concoussion, Tear. Etc etc.Stun:Works like the stun setting of a blaster, only it has a longer recovery rate.
Frag:Like normal grenades are now.
Tear:Blinds you.
Concoussion: Like Stun, but stronger.
Cryo:Freezes you in place.
Adheasive:Lowers dex by like 3, and increases lag between entering rooms.
Plasma:Burns.
Flash:Blinds you, but longer then Tear.
Sonic:Disrupts droids, and other electrical things. Good for disabling ships while still on the ground.
Vibro-blades, we need a couple different classes..C’mon.Stiletto:Dagger, easy conceal and slitting the throat of your enemy.
Machete:Like a dagger, but longer, and slightly sharper. To cut through plantlife.
Blade:Like Vibros are now.
Dual-blade:Two-handed vibro, with two blades on each side. Used like a staff in some ways, a sharp one. With pointy ends.
Forcepike. Yeah, I said it.Stun Baton:Smaller, easier to conceal. Stuns for 2 seconds each round, or something. Could be used for blackjacking.
Forcestaff: Longer, works the same way only for 3 seconds. Harder to conceal, but retracts like a lightsaber.
Forcespear:Smaller version of the pike, possibly able to wield two. Or not. It’s LOTJ, we can have our own things too.
Forcepike: Bigger, badder, heavier two-handed weapon with a peirceing damage, as well as a blunt damage.
Forcelance: Used when mounted, eh, just tossing it out there.
Bowcaster, there’s only one version. And that’s the traditional Wookiee bowcaster. Two-handed.
Unarmed.Brass knuckles:Self explanitory.
Vibro-punchblade: Like a Katar.
Those are my ideas, go ahead and play with them for a while. <!– s:P –><img src="{SMILIES_PATH}/icon_razz.gif" alt="

Those are really good ideas, but if you throw in TOO many classes, it may get complicated. Cut it down just a bit maybe? Oh, and they took out stun grenades a while back because they were too cheap and powerful. Like, I remember I had a Trand engi, and I probably set a record for perms with stun grenades. Like, srsly.
