This thread is a perfect example of the dogmatic adherence to IC/OOC rules. I think in a lot of cases the rules are interpreted waaaay too literally especially where the distinction between IN CHARACTER INFORMATION and GAME MECHANICS exists.
Case in point, the description of the bioplug cyber that is given that it recharges devices using "internal heat energy" in NO WAY conveys correctly the game mechanic at play. I’m all for encouraging exploration and experimentation but not where said exploration is NON-REVERSIBLE and DETRIMENTAL to your character.
I’ve seen NUMEROUS rooms where OOC information is given in the room description as a way to facilitate players, IE the workshops where it says OOC Say "activate" to use the trash compactor, clearly a similar thing could be done in this case in the NPC shops that sell cybers.
Of course we already made the suggestion about adding a product catelog or owners manual to the vendor, which would be totally IC and totally legitimate but for some reason all of your dogmatic elitist fagots can’t get over your own egos to realize that helping players is a good thing and enriches the mud and it’s playerbase.
Yes flimsiplast exists in star wars, just because you can’t find it anywhere in LOTJ does not mean we can summarily say it doesn’t exist, how could a society that has datapads and turbolasers not have paper, that’s just asinine. And if you want be a "strict constructionist" on such issues we could just as easily make it a message disk for sale in cyber shops as we could a "piece of flimsiplast." Of course I’ve already given an example of where "paper" was used as an IC in game item (the parts list from Jorek in the fusion cutter quest is a list but not a message disk or datapad, I think it’s pretty clear that it’s paper or an equivalent analogue) and you just go ahead and live in your fairyland that "paper" or any analogues don’t exist in LOTJ.
