I’m posting this because a certain someone wouldn’t do it herself. =p
Command: Action
Usage: >>action is wandering around the workshop, assembling comlinks.
>>action (alone to clear previous message)
Room sees: Person is wandering around the workshop, assembling comlinks. It’s nothing fancy, but I think it’d be a great RP tool and it doesn’t sound like it would be difficult to implement at all.
*Changed it to ACTION, since there’s already a string that says, "ACTION MESSAGE:" in score.

Pose is already an alternate command for emote. This was added to accomodate players who migrate over from mushes.

It’s a good idea, but–yes, I’m going there–it’s been suggested before. Though, props for this round of it actually getting noticed by Anna; several iterations have gone unnoticed (well, uncommented on, at least).

Nah, I was saying good job on buggering it up so much that Anna had to come in and correct the mistake.

I agree. This would be a very good function to add, while we’re at it why not variables to emote?
emote looks toward /human with a nod in greeting.
People would see: Onasaki looks over at a strong, normal pale skinned Human male with a nod in greeting.I think I suggested this once before too, though.

Yeah, that was discussed in a thread not too long ago.
I beg you, Rojan, make these things happen soon <!– s:( –><img src="{SMILIES_PATH}/icon_sad.gif" alt="

Wasn’t the variable emote thing deemed too difficult to code? I’d rather see something simple put in that’ll inspire RP, than something elaborate turned down which wouldn’t change much. <!– s:x –><img src="{SMILIES_PATH}/icon_mad.gif" alt=":x" title="Mad" /><!– s:x –>

It’s in the prog, social, combat, et al code already.…oh, and language tokens as well.

In hope of getting this back on topic, I’d like to put out there that I’m really in support of this idea.
There are so many times that someone will walk into a room full of other people and begin talking, only to have someone else emote or say something on their topic that had just been interrupted, or there’s something huge going on that a passerby should be aware of, and it has to be explained via osay, or through emotes repeating what exactly the person is doing.
Especially with the recent event involving Eastport, I found out that RP going on in the room could be easily ignored, the different actions of people going totally unrecognized at points.
Anyway.. my two cents! <3

I’ve seen MUDs with only one coder that had variables. I don’t think it’s too hard, but then I’m not a coder.
As for the Action command, why would it be so hard to make it customisable?

‘Action’ or something.
