The Empire Announces Ban on Recreational Spice
Broadcasting Network [Coruscant]: A nearby holoscreen turns on and displays the
Imperial Cog. Underneath, the [Imperial News Network] logo is displayed. It
fades out to a female human news anchor seated behind a desk. 'Breaking News'
is displayed above a ticker with various other news bits. She takes her datapad
in hand and addresses the camera, "This just in, the Lord Emperor has decreed
that all recreational spice usage has been outlawed on Imperial Worlds,
restricting it to use by Imperial military only. Those who even carry the
substances may find themselves in violation of Imperial law. INN reached out to
the Grand Moff's office again for a comment on the ban:"
The scene changes to the large yellow skinned Hutt sitting behind an opulent
desk, "Thank you again reaching out. Our wonderful Professor Katari has been
working himself to the bone to research these various spices so that the Empire
could make an informed decision on their dangers. What he found is troubling
and, quite frankly, these long term effects are just awful. This ban is
resoundingly in protection of the populace from these terrifying effects and I
couldn't be more in favor of it. The Emperor has agreed that interstellar spice
trading will continue, but any company that wishes to utilize spice for
medicinal or military applications will need to be vetted by the Empire and
will be expected that if their product is allowed to be misused, they shall
bear the full responsibility of that misuse."
