COPYOVER

Copyovers are a process we use to roll out new features, code changes, and
updates without fully shutting down and rebooting the MUD. During a copyover,
the game will appear to be frozen until the process is complete. Planned
copyovers are generally announced at least 60 seconds in advance, but the mud
may also trigger an automatic emergency copyover to prevent the game from hard
crashing.

The length of a copyover varies, but as of this helpfile writing, we have cut
it down from 3 minutes to about 60 seconds. Please avoid launching or landing a
ship until a copyover is complete. If you have a writing buffer open (such as
during a note or message composition), you will be disconnected during the
copyover. If you are in the middle of a skill or action when the copyover
begins, simply restart the skill once the process is complete.
