MIC MICROPHONE

Microphones, or mics, are listening devices, bought from NPC stores, which
listen to their room's spoken words and transmit them to a chosen comm channel.
If a microphone is tuned to 0, it will not transmit at all.

If you find one and wish to know what channel it was tuned to, you can use
'TUNE MICROPHONE -' to get its channel.

To listen to a microphone, you must have a comlink in your inventory tuned to
the same channel as the microphone. You must also be in the same starsystem as the
microphone.

Microphones pick up text spoken with say, speech portions of emotes, or yells.
They will not pick up whisper, talk, clantalk, intercom, or other commands
which communicate over a remote channel. Microphones will still pick up voices
through one layer of container, like a bag or a custom container, but won't go
through two or more layers. So, if you put a microphone in a bag, and that put
that bag in your backpack, it will be effectively muted until you take the bag
back out.

PLEASE NOTE: There are rules about what is acceptable as a container used to
hide a microphone. Using any black (&), near-black, or otherwise very hard to
see colors for a container to hide a microphone in is illegal. Ending the
container name with (2) to make it look like a stack, or other meta methods are
also illegal. It is legal to make a container that looks like another in-game
item, however.
