BLOCKADE
Syntax: blockade <planet>
This command will enact a blockade in the name of your clan. The blockade must
be called from the bridge of a cruiser or larger, and in order for the blockade
to continue there must be at least one member of the clan on a corvette or
larger within 7500 units of the planet at all times.
Use the blockade <planet> command again to call off the blockade manually, or
you may simply leave the system and it will end on its own.
Blockades can also be enacted by a leader on the ground using the LEADPLANET
BLOCKADE command. It still requires a member of the clan to be in a corvette or
larger within 7500 units of the planet.
Blockading a planet has the following effects as long as the blockade is up:
* Prevents the current government's military presence from rising passively if
blockaded by someone other than that clan.
* Lowers public opinion of the blockading clan by 10/hour, except for clans
flagged as 'greater good'. The maximum effect on opinion is -20.
* Prevents ejection from vessels which are at least as far from the planet as
the closest blockading ship. The blockade's effective distance is shown when
looking out the windows, as in "Ithor (Blockaded past 500 units)." In this
case, any ship between 0 and 499 units away could still eject. If a
blockading ship is in orbit, ejection is impossible from any distance.
The GNI reports will regularly report on the status of the blockaded sector,
alerting players to the hazard present. When the planet is unblockaded GNI will
make a final report to inform everyone that normal traffic may resume.
