Looking into space, you should be able to see if a sufficiently large ship is landing/taking-off too.

I think Kora probably has it closest to the mark. What i’d like to see is that if capital ships(and only capital ships, you’re not going to see a starfighter or satellite in space from the ground) are in orbit, and not more than 1000-2000 units out, you’d see:
Victory-Class Star Destroyer
Victory-Class Star Destroyeretc. No specific ship names, you aren’t superman. What you could then play into this is a use for the ‘scrying’ effect on binoculars, allowing a player to either see the names of the ships or smaller sizes (down to say, corvette as per Walldo).

Well, the new goggles dealio I just finished could in fact be used for that – we wouldn’t really need to add the scrying affect. In fact, that’s probably something that we can either phase out (I mean – scan does what scrying does now).

I’m bumping this because there are some cool ideas in here.
I think that ground combat isn’t being used that much (which is sad.) I’ve never done much with combatants but I’d like to see that made more important.
What if we did some sort of a command post (or a couple command posts) on the planet’s surface? For example, take the capital building and a few other things and hold them for a sufficient amount of time while support drops and the planet is yours. In cannon you can’t take a planet with just a navy but you can’t take it with just an army either.

Snipe – Should have an optional arg for aim location or optional feat for that purpose. Aimed shots should take at least 15-20 seconds to line up, perhaps longer for headshots.
[/quote:857iu2qh]Been clamoring for this for a long time now. I’ll look over your other ideas when I’m more awake and less sick. I like the diversity, but I’m sure there will be some things I won’t like.
For now, thanks for taking the time to post this, Hiro (four months ago).
