Right now, the only thing Secure does is protect against stripship. However, since the basis of secure is securing the computer, why not upgrade the functionality to include protecting the navcomputer from Matchvector, or barring that, make it so the person who is flying the secured ship knows who is trying to match their vector or maybe just an alert that someone, without revealing who, is trying to hack the navcomputer.

Matchvector is already very rarely successfully used, so going to have to say disagree to this one. It’s a good idea, but in this instance it would provide too much protection.

I thought about adding hangar protection as well, but that just seemed a little much.

I mean, to be honest, we are talking about protecting computer systems with secure. Not entirely sure where stripship would come into that, but it seems to. I’m more thinking about literally protecting ship computers.

Maybe you have to convince the computer to release it’s parts, and securing it protects the computer from being convinced. 😀

I was under the impression you had to slice a ship in order to pirate it, otherwise you would fail.  So technically, you do have to use secure/slice to keep peeps from stripping your ship.

As frumpalumpagus pointed out security plays into piracy as well. It does not make a ship un-pirateable, but it does make the ship alarm if you attempt to pirate it (even if you succeed, regardless of your level).  Without “security” someone can use pirateship without any fear of alerting the clan on the governing planet, or anyone on the pad for that matter.

Very open to further extensions of secured ship computers.  Stopped with the slicer extensions not due to a lack of interest, but to let what has been implemented so far sink in a little bit.  I’m glad to see that it has people thinking!
