I’m going to do a big update to tones. What do you want to see added? Removed? un-typo’d?

I think redundant tones should have one of the redundancies removed. I’ll have to go through the list to see, but an example that comes to mind is Terse/Curt. They both basically mean the same thing.

While that’s true some are more or less the same thing, it’s nice to have a little variety for the same thing. It’s all opinion really and could lead to lame arguments. For instance, removing terse could lead to such:
‘You sounded terse the other day!’
"No no, I was being curt, not terse."So on and so forth. Little redundancy isn’t a bad thing. Let’s people have choices.

No.
No.
NONONONONONO."Redundant" tones, as you call them, are the spice of life! And there [i:1ybzv35t]are[/i:1ybzv35t] little, subtle connotative differences. Terse is more aggressive than curt. Both words imply short, abrupt speech, but terse is more harsh and dismissive, while curt is more "clipped". I know it’s nitpicky, but it allows for more fine-tuning for your character’s speech. It also makes it easier to identify between the multitudes of human males using permatones. It -also- makes it easier for somebody to emphasize a particular sentence. Somebody who always speaks curtly can switch to terse to emphasize a particularly abrupt statement instead of just having it be dismissed as the way in which they always speak.
Besides, what does it hurt to leave them in? More tones, yes! Less tones, no… <!– s:( –><img src="{SMILIES_PATH}/icon_sad.gif" alt="

Didn’t I just say all that, but in a much smaller, curt post? <!– s:D –><img src="{SMILIES_PATH}/icon_biggrin.gif" alt="
