The time system should be changed to reflect real hours, miniutes, and seconds. I think it’d be a lot more realistic and actually factor into people’s RP if one day didn’t go by in five seconds.

I never use the insystem time. I always refer to the day as Friday, Saturday, etc. and I always refer to a month as a month, an hour as an hour. Until the time system is actually consistent and a rule, I will continue to do so.

Time system is not in-game time, it is real life time.

      The sun sets!

      five minutes later

      The sun rises!

I’m talking about an actual 24-hour clock for the rising/setting of the sun, weather that lasts longer than five seconds, et cetera.

This has been suggested 2948321948219 times, so I’m really glad you didn’t even attempt to claim the creative juices that thought up this brilliant idea.

That being said, there are legitimate reasons to keep it as it is; if you want it otherwise, just RP it as such. Rmote is your friend.

I fail to see how bringing up a point multiple times deserves you being an asshat, RJ. There is nothing wrong with bringing an idea back up.

Anyway, when I put in the new weather system, it removed the time command. Instead, we now have a timezones command that lists all the times in various zones.

      So meh.

      Yes. I’m more talking about:

      The sun rises.

Randomguy says, ‘Hey, the sun’s up, let’s go to the beach and have a walk before it gets hot.’

      say okay
      It’s noon.
      You say, ‘Okay.’

      The sun sets.

Weather should last a lot longer, time should last a lot longer. And Weather needs something to actually make people pay attention to it. It is absolutely pointless having these systems if they have no effect. It’d be great for ambience .. if everybody didn’t just ignore it.

Of all of the things that really, really, really need to be changed, how did time echos make the list?

Quick fix: If they’re not already removed by the time of this post, then just ignore the time echos if you don’t like them. RP around them. I’ve never seen anyone actually seek shelter when it echos out that’s it’s raining, so just continue to ignore those as well.

I much prefer the rule of thumb that I find on most muds of around one minute being an hour, a day being half an hour, a month a day, and a year a week. In my experience, even if you made weather do something, it’s not going to make much notice still outside of the RPers who want to include it.

the rule of thumb I use is 2 weeks = 1 year.

This should all be a bit better with the new system.
