I’ve often been frustrated with the awkwardness of juggling comlinkes using currentcom. Tell me if you think this is a good / bad idea for a new command
talkchan <chan> <blah blah blah blah blah>
You would type talkchan and then the channel number, i.e. “talkchan 0 Hello there” and talkchan would check to see if you are carrying a comlink that is tuned to channel 0. If you are, it will talk, otherwise it would complain that you don’t have a comlink tuned to that channel.
You could then use aliases in your client to make things like, talkzero or talkrecruit for those common tasks.
Everybody mischans, would this help?

That’s a cool idea. Another thing that I find which helps is to put add your current comlink/encryption in to your prompt.

Cool idea, but is it worth putting it to code? If so, might as well get rid of currentcom. If not, then something that could be put on standby for the future.
I know I frequently get confused to my comlinks, but like Hashi said, Current Comlink/Encryption in your prompt is a big help.

It’s not a difficult change to make if you all think it would make things better. I don’t see a reason not to just leave both commands in – let people do things the way they want to do them.

It’s not a terrible idea for sure. I’m all for improving quality of life. I just seem to have a different opinion than most people about what is important coding/fixing and what isn’t.

Miros seems like he’s fixing small quality of life things. This is a good idea and it’s not really a fair thing to get all fussy and go HEH A SMALL THING THAT TAKES AN HOUR TO IMPLEMENT? WHAT YOU SHOULD BE DOING IS [INSERT PET 5 STAGE SYSTEM OVERHAUL].

Vaguely in the same arena that I always thought would be good is having channel/encryption show when you type inventory, just like it does when you type equipment

I wasn’t getting fussy, Zeromus. I was just explaining my point of view. As per typical, that’s usually enough for you to jump like a monkey on my back. *shrugs* I explicitly stated that I did not think it was a terrible idea and I am all for quality of life improvements. I guess you just glossed over that and saw what you wanted to see in order to attempt to tear me down once again. Grow up.

This is another tweak I could get behind.

Seems like there is interest and this is an easy one. I may implement it. Thanks for the feedback!

Would showing the channel/encryption in your inventory allow people who can peek see the channel/encryption as well?

I prefer to have the channel/encryption in the inventory… I have it in my prompt and have no trouble at all, i’d rather not create an alias just to use talkchat i’d rather just type talk and be done with it in all honesty but that’s just me
