Here is just something I’ve noticed about certain classes and stat gains.

      1) Espionage. Right now, it gives Intelligence stat gains which does nothing for the class itself. Since Dexterity and Constitution both give bonuses to Espionage, it should be one of these stats.

      2) Leadership. While most of you will agree that leadership as a whole should be revamped, I think small things should come first before major overhauls. My idea is that Charisma should not be the sole end-all-be-all for Leadership. While I understand that for all intents and purposes, a charismatic person can be an effective leader, this is not always the case. I propose for people who are not a leader main, this does not change (Charisma will still be the defining stat for non-Leader mains). However, for Leader mains, I think the prime stat booster and what ultimately determines its max levels should be dependant on their subclass. For example, the primary stat booster for their subclass should also become the primary stat booster for Leadership.

      Combat – Strength
      Piloting – Dexterity
      Slicer – Intelligence
      Science – Wisdom
      Diplomacy – Charisma
Smuggling – Luck (although I don’t know about this. It could gimp someone should they go Leader/Smuggling)
      Medical – Wisdom
Espionage – Constitution or Dexterity (NOT Intelligence as mentioned above)
      Engineering – Intelligence

This could potentially help some races get to 150 in their subclass. Wouldn’t you think that if someone is going to be an effective leader, in let’s say Piloting, they would know everything they could possibly know in that field? Again, this is not always the case, but most leaders aren’t there just because they look good (unless you’re in the military). Right now it is very hard to get 150 in any subclass unless you are a Leader/Diplo since they share the same stat gains.

The thing about Leadership, though, is that Leadership determines how good you are at leading — not how good you are at leading your subclass. Charisma [i:1quv7tf7]should[/i:1quv7tf7] be the end-all-be-all for it, because that’s what it’s about. If you’re not a personable character, people aren’t going to like following you. Charisma doesn’t just represent how you look physically, but traditionally reflects your overall charm — your ability to handle other people.

Whether it is intentional or not, you can’t hit 150 in any of your subclasses as a leader without an obscene modifier to that subclass. Making the gains is not going to help because chances are, your stats for them are already maxed out in the gain department(STR/CON/DEX gains do not add past 22.) I just don’t see this helping the main reason for this idea, reaching 150 in the subclass, in any way.

If that’s the case, then nevermind.

However, I am still adamant about changing the stat gain for Espionage. Intelligence gains do not aid Espionage level gains in any way, so it is rather pointless. It should be Dexterity or Constitution since those gains directly benefit Espionage gains.

You get dex gains from engi, but engi levels are not based on dex. <!– s:x –><img src="{SMILIES_PATH}/icon_mad.gif" alt=":x" title="Mad" /><!– s:x –>

I must have missed that one. I could have sworn Engi was right. I guess not.

Change Engi from Dex to Int and change Espi from Int to Dex or Con please =)

Yeah, I know, I asked myself the same question when I started getting extra dex points from makejewelry.

why the hell is it capped at 22? some races get to 22 through just training. This means that they are gimped out of any possible gains, while a race that gets 21 through racial training can still get at least 1 gain. This doesn’t really seem fair in the slightest. wouldn’t a better solution simply be to make it so that you can get 2 gains past your racial max. Ie if it’s 22 through training, you can hit 24. If it’s 18, you could get 20.

I’m talking about gains, not stats after cybers.

Those races aren’t really gimped… ones that can train to 22 are guaranteed that 22. Races that can’t AREN’T guaranteed it. And races that can train higher are even better off.

Good point. Hadn’t thought about that one.
