Okay, I’m sure a few of you have heard of Afro Samurai. And probably a smaller number has seen. And those of you who have seen, may know what I’m going to suggest.

In Afro Samurai, they had this ‘headband’ system. It use to be a deep system with a number of headbands, but eventually only two remained. Basically what I’m suggesting, is not exactly a ‘headband’ system, but something similar. Here’s how it would work (we’ll use a ring as an example):

Two rings, one designated as the number one, the other as the number two. Maybe just randomly given to two people? I dunno. Anyways, inside each ring is a tracking beacon. Anyone that desires to participate in the event, will be able to track the number two ring via a tracking device (obviously, would need to be created). Basically, if you have the number 2 ring, you’re either fucked or happy. Because anyone can challenge the number 2 for the ring. And the only way to get the ring is to kill the owner and take it. Whoever has the number 2, is the only person allowed to challenge the number 1 and it is the job of the number 2 to find the number 1 to challenge.

Here are a couple of rules:
      1. If you have the Number 2 ring, you must accept any and all challenges. Number 1 must only accept from Number 2.
      2. No interfering with duels for a ring. It must be a honorable, one on one fight.

How this would fit into LotJ I’m not sure. Perhaps you could say a master bounty hunter developed the system to originally test his students long ago, but it has since become a galaxy wide event that only the most skilled of combatants participate in and honor now. Whether or not there should be a perk to owning a ring remains to be seen. I’m sure easily you could at least add some hp, hr/dr and maybe something else, but beyond that I don’t know. It was just something I was thinking would add like a cool, constant event on LotJ.

Idea volunteered from Rhodry: Every week you were able to hold onto the Number 1 spot (while being ACTIVE), you would earn 500 account points.

      Feedback greatly welcomed.

This could be an interesting side event, but I don’t think it could fit into LotJ if you had to kill someone to take their ring. Perming over this probably shouldn’t even be allowed.

That’s kinda the point actually. If you want to get the prestige and recognition, you’ll participate. It’s up to the person whether or not they want to risk a character they’ve worked on to get to the point they are, in the event. If they do, it’s on them. The rules are plainly laid out, so it’s not like you go in not knowing what will happen.

      I would play.

RP it IMO. Code-based support for this would be absurd.

I’d say that the Number 1 would have to fight a couple of times each week to get those points.
If not, the first person to sign up WOULD be number 1, and then they could just quit out of that character and have fun on a series of alts paid for by the 500 weekly points…

Uh, I guess you didn’t read the ACTIVE part RJ.

This could be a cool idea if people actually participated, although somehow I think it would turn into a ‘hide in uncharted’ game before too many people actually died.

After thinking about it, could just used as an alternative to the CG game. *shrugs*
