Yeah, I mentioned this before on another thread.
Slicer-to-slicer combat, being sort of like ship-to-ship, but it takes more time. And more skill rather then alias here, spam that.
You’d be able to lock people out of terminals, overload them, etc etc. Like in KotOR 2 on the second part of Onderon.
Thoughts, ideas, comments?

If done correctly, I think this could add a fun twist (not to mention depth of character and many other things it adds) to playing a slicer.

I started writing this big idea about expanding slicers and datapads to be sort of like the game Uplink. Here’s just a quick list off the top of my head
Decrypter
Encrypter (encrypts a file with ‘X’ strength protection. Dependant on slicer level, luck, etc.)
Firewall Bypass
Firewall Disable
IP Probe (trace a datapad to a planet)
Probe Tracker (tells you if you are being traced)
Log Deleter (hack into a datapad/planetary grid, and you’ll leave a log/datapad IP)
Proxy (spoof your datapad IP)Along with all of this would come updates for datapads (processors, memory)
No joke, I played the UPlink demo for a half hour and basically emulated the entire game into LotJ format.

That sounds fairly awesome, Walldo.
Though, some of that could be given to espionages as well, or race-restricted (bothans for example) even if it didn’t make much sense.

On the topic of giving it to certain races, and espionage..I say nay, though it would be pretty interesting to see who gets what..

ForwardAddress <name> – Forwards whatever mail <name> would receive to your own inbox. Make it so it’ll work with fake names too, so I can add a little more mystique to my secret identities.
And a skill/feat to protect against it as well, of course.

On that note, why not add an ‘alias’ command? It would allow someone to mail your fake name, thus leaving your real name anonymous. Maybe a smuggling/slicer feat?

Well, that was originally why I thought of it, and then I realized it could be used to intercept mail too. Separate commands are good, ’cause it gives slicers more to do. What else would be nice…
Oh, something to turn off autopilot on capships. >
Make it a 150 skill or something, so you know they can’t turn off autopilot and steal a ship on their own.

There’s a lvl 145 smuggling skill that already does this.

OoOooOoO.
How about a requirement for programs and stuff? IE, you’d need to install a mail program to write disks, slicer programs to short locks and hack lifts, fakesignals, stuff like that. It’d give Slicers more to do, that’s for sure.
