I don’t know about anyone else, but FUCK the g’damn spam on landing pads like Lorrds Capitol Pad. We need something that just says how many of each type of ship is there. IE.
20 fighters are docked here.
13 freighters are docked here.
3 corvettes are docked here.
Something like that. And then implement a command like show ships or something and THEN it’ll list all the ships names and models and what have you. Hell, you could even narrow the command down to something like show ships all, show ships fighters, show ships freighters, etc. OR! Just put a cap on landing pads and make multiple landing pads for each planet.
Regardless of how it’s done, just please…. no more spam.

I agree show how many of each type fighters transports. Then add a command showship fighter and it will list all the fighters.

Personally, I’d say that the approach be done more like the hangar system on ships. Landing pads are set up to a certain number of "pads." Those pads can beA) Large in number, with 1 pad big enough for one fighter, and larger ships taking up more than one pad (like the hangar system)
Medium to large in number, with 1 pad good for one ship, regardless of size (see note later in reply)C) Small in number, with 1 pad good for many fighters, several freights, or one corvette (basically, a modification of choice A with several clusters of 1-fighter pads making up a pad).
Combined with some sort of coding for "docking fees," spaceports could be a lot more interesting. For one, there’d be the mystery and overwhelming feelings associated with a giant-ass spaceport, just like in real Star Wars. You couldn’t walk onto the main pad on Coruscant and be like "OMG, <person>’s fighter is only 800m north-northeast of here! BRB!" unless you already had previous knowledge of it; with the current system, you can.
However, this doesn’t exactly decrease spam–it just vastly increases realism. So, perhaps instead of a giant spam of single pads, or the ships themselves, the base room displays something like this:
"This landing facility is equipped for up to <number> ships."
Of course, that message would change based on which method (A, B, C, or a modification/combination of any of those choices) is chosen.Additionally, I’d say that the governing clans of the planet the spaceport is located on should get a command (either purely clan based, or more likely an empowerment) that lets them list all the ships on the pad, what pads they’re located on, and perhaps filled pads out of total pads–either from the spaceport room itself, or anywhere on the planet.

Oi. Stop complicating shit. I just want to stop spam, not give the IMMs a headache.

Can’t we have both?

The likelyhood of shit getting done as a direct result of forums posting is so small that you might as well go for broke–go for "what if," not "when?"

For gods’ sakes, just add an extra landing or two pad on Lorrd. And give the stupid publics a DIFFERENT default reset point, like on the GNI planet.

Adding an extra few landing pads, much like how Eastport used to be, and dividing the ships all out onto these pads upon creation like how Eastport’s were bunched together when the four pads were condensed into one, would immediately clear some of the clutter, and people would be able to see which pad their ships were on by just looking at ship owned. It would be a lot easier, and effective than redesigning the ship viewing system.
Other planets HAVE multiple public landing pads. Corellia, Bespin, Coruscant, Tatooine, to name a few. Lorrd just hasn’t. Despite it being well-traversed. It just need a bit of an upgrade, to go along with the rest of these planets.

Just look at Corellia. People randomly pick a pad to land on, and it equalizes pretty nicely.

I always land on Alpha! …
Well sometimes Beta or gama but mostly alpha

Anyway… yeah.
Multiple pads on Lorrd: Would only take a few minutes versus all that coding, still solve it.

secluded ones that are hard to find, not just land <planet> a or land <planet> b and such, they have to be hidden.
