At the moment, the code revolving around piloting ships and crashing them is useless.

      [i:24n3gyl7]Player crashes their ship.[/i:24n3gyl7]
      [b:24n3gyl7]Can I be restored I crashed[/b:24n3gyl7]
      [i:24n3gyl7]Player is restored[/i:24n3gyl7]

Why? Should I really be expected to make someone sit there for however long it takes to retick HP back up to 1? Here are some suggestions for making the crash code, well, good.
      [list:24n3gyl7]
Randomly do 10-90% HP damage but DON’T stun them.
Do heavy (and random) hull damage to the ship.
Randomly drop the ship into an outdoors room on the planet.
Echo in the room that it crashes.
Echo in the surrounding rooms about seeing a ship flying through the air about to crash.
      Random system damage.
      [/list:u:24n3gyl7]

      What else can be done?

some sort of black box system perhaps, similiar to tracking beacons…? but we’d need working radar towers…and people actually monitoring them :/

Echo to the clan that owns the planet, the way pirateship does vs security now, that a ship has been reported as crashed. From the NPC radar towers, of course. <!– s;) –><img src="{SMILIES_PATH}/icon_wink.gif" alt=";)" title="Wink" /><!– s;) –>

Versus the literal stun, why not just a temporary one? Ten, fifteen, thirty seconds? Comparitive to how when you use certain skills such as steal, or get affected by stasis, unfamiliar, etc.

Remove it. I still don’t understand what the point in adding crashing was. You’d think Autopilot would actually automatically pilot some shit or something, instead of being some glorified ship Club.

Person buys ship, lifts off and enters orbit, then disaster!

Ship starts crashing into the planet

The ship starts to burn up in the atmosphere, this severaly damages the craft and has a % chance to explode on entry (this is obviously a perm unless you make it to an escape pod).

If ship survives entry, it crashes on a randomly generated outdoors room, the pilot is SHELLSHOCKED (not quite a stun, you can walk about, but the MUD makes you into a sort of drunken state, randomly walk in odd directions and if you try to speak it’s half-assed), SHELLSHOCK time can be modified according to race, but can be given a base time for everyone until that aspect gets updated.

An echo is given to the entire planet as well as notifications to all senior government or organisation members via comlink from the emergency services on that planet that a ship has crashed.

The MUD assigns numeric values according to the % of the planet that is populated, a planet like coruscant would be 100% (unless they have some lush green forests I was never made aware of), this converts into a % chance that, as the ship is crashing, the populace see &quot; The sky burns as a crashing ship streaks across the area&quot; (this obviously shows BEFORE the ship has crashed echo), in addition to this, there is a small % chance that debris from the ship come crashing into the streets and land in ramdom outdoor rooms, if someone happens to be unfortunate enough to get in the way of this debris they get shipped off to hospital (I suggest the hospitalization be anywhere, including non-safe zones, unless you want to reduce the % to a VERY small chance and have it perm anyone it hits) but any NPCs it hits are instantly killed and obviously respawn at the next area reset. Obviously the chances of the debris crashing, coupled by the chances of you being in the same room will make it very unlikely that you get hit by it at all, whats life without any risk?.

Skitter, I like your idea adding in something like that will add some risk to piloting and maybe add some things about exhaustion to a character to factor the way the character make his or her piloting choices and ultimately they make mistakes that could cause their ship to randomly crash.

Nice idea, but we’re branching dangerously close into the &quot;too realistic to be fun&quot; category. If we have to sleep for 10 minutes before we can fly a ship what comes next, food and drink to stay conscious and using the bathroom?

I miss eating and drinking for more than RP.

Why do you link going to the bathroom and wanking it?

Because they’re both private occurances that are disturbing when RP’d out.
