How about we ask him if his tractorbeam finger gets numb? Oh how I LOVE explaining this. Have you seen the log? Because from what I’ve told, and after being investigated by the imms, NO ONE has seen the log conversation until I sent it to the imms. As I was telling THE PERSON(BEFORE said bug even happened, I might add. TWO WEEKS before said incident happened, I should add again). I was telling the person(*GASP* Who was bragging OOCLY about the rebels getting X-wings) that battlegroup was bugged. Feel free to ask Nield, Rijarin, Compel, Ralen how uninvokable it is, and how it works. We’ve all been hit by it, we’re just not stupid enough to repeat it and get into the situation.

I admit fault for trying to explain how to avoid it over AIM, where things tend to get twisted so if in-game shit goes foul, they think they have a trumph card up their sleeve. The bug happens because of aconfig +radio and autopilot being on. What idiot is going to turn off autopilot of orbital ships? No one. What idiot is going to turn off ANY aconfig simple to accomodate the other side? Again, No one. The bug is not invokable, it just happens due to ORBITAL SHIPS(Ships that are left there 24/7) giving off a radio. I guarantee you the same thing would of happened to me had I been stupid enough to bring my battlegroup to a rebel sector with an orbital ship. Also, you might want to ask Gidoran how the Rebels lost Constitution over Lorrd when there was no one manning it(His battlegroup turned on him as he was destroying the orbital ship *Gasp* Another show of it happening of its own, and not being invoked.)

Kindly shut up and learn what you’re talking about. Even the tractoring is out of context, as I only used tractor capture three times(No more than four, if I am wrong about three). I am not doing this to brag, as I could honestly care less if I am thought of as a shit pilot, over-rated, under-rated, I don’t care. I will not, however, stand for you ignorant idiots spreading rumors about stuff that’s so been passed through a hundred people, being twisted whichever way to justify your losses.

[edit] Now that I think about it, how about you(or maybe the fifty people that information goes through before reaching your ears) PM me or send a tell explaining all the other things things I cheat on so I can set that straight while I’m at it.[/edit]

      Rebels are sore losers

They changed the ship bay size on ISDs to stop the Rebels claiming the Imperials cheat everytime the rebels get their asses handed to them on messy silver platters.

Since then, they’ve still owned face.

Actually that was something that pissed me off from Day 1 of the era. It was however, far easier to change it when the new ISD’s came out as opposed to having to deal with the complaining of the already existing ships.

Quite simply. ISD hangar can comfortably hold a CR90 (see the first um… 30 seconds of Star Wars!). It does not make sense that it could hold a ship 3 times that ones size.

I’m not arguing with the decision, however, using what happened in the movies isn’t a good way to justify all game mechanics.

If something breaks common sense, it breaks internal logic, it breaks film logic, in fact if it breaks every kind of logic and, is not an abstraction essential to gameplay mechanics as well as being able to be fixed by typing 2 sentences (setship shipname hangar 1 size 49) then I will do what I can to fix it.

I’ve never been in many ship battles. Those I am in, I usually either try to dodge them, or try not to be in them.

In my opinion, if you really want a decent ship battle, we should be able to squad/duty starfighters since we can’t have 500 people one at once like they have in the movies. And because of that, spacebattles are more spammy, and monotonous.

How I see it, is that it’d work like the squad and duty commands we have now, only instead of controlling troops. It’d be ships. We’d see [x3]A squadron of TIE Fighters, or something like that.

I’m not sure if we’d need to control a single one out of the group. But, another way we could do it, is have squadron leaders. PCs who control a squadron of TIE or X-wings. That way it could work like it does in the movies, and we don’t need 500 PCs.

      Just my two cents, really.

      Umm Battlegroup?

That’s battlegroup?! I thought Battlegroup was like..A group of ships. Like a player group. See what I mean about me not being in many ship-to-ship battles? XD

No, that isn’t battlegroup. Look at what he said in his post, and then look at battlegroup. He’s talking about incorporating starfighter squadrons into the mud to be more streamlined and less spammy.

      instead of

      X-Wing Starfighter ‘Red 1’
      X-Wing Starfighter ‘Red 2’
      X-Wing Starfighter ‘Red 3’
      X-Wing Starfighter ‘Red 4’
      X-Wing Starfighter ‘Red 5’
      X-Wing Starfighter ‘Red 6’
      X-Wing Starfighter ‘Red 7’
      X-Wing Starfighter ‘Red 8’
      X-Wing Starfighter ‘Red 9 ‘
      X-Wing Starfighter ‘Red 10’
      X-Wing Starfighter ‘Red 11’
      X-Wing Starfighter ‘Red 12’

      You would see something like

      A squadron of X-wing starfighters

Should probably fix the many bugs in battlegroup before trying to implement more ideas, although that’s a good idea.

I see what he means now, and as gathorn says fix battlegroup first.

Space combat in Star Wars goes like this:

      Starfighter
      Midship
      Capship

      Starfighter &gt; Capship &gt; Midship &gt; Starfighter.

We need to strike that balance somehow. Make it difficult for capships to hit starfighters so they need to employ Carrack Cruisers and stuff. And my squadron idea should definitely be implemented, it’d allow a single player to lead a squadron of fighters into battle. : o

Yeah, and make it so you can attack certain parts of a cappie like in Battlefront/EoW. Rather then just SPAM SPAM SPAM TRIGGER ALIAS SPAM! <!– s:P –><img src="{SMILIES_PATH}/icon_razz.gif" alt=":P" title="Razz" /><!– s:P –>
