I think it would be nice if a ship were to be upgraded by someone with spacecraft adepted, all maxes for that ship increase by say ten percent (rounding up in the case of quantities < 0). This would make the services of certain engineers highly sought after because they will produce a better ship.

Isn’t this sort of how it already is?

From what I know, it’s not Walldo. You can make things go to a set max.

Ships right now are maxes, but tbh, the maxes are not that bad of a system. of all the things in game right now, I think engineering needs the least tweaking. we are the most sought after right now no matter what you do, and other classes are lacking very much. Also, ships having an extra % would be different $ per upgradable part, which means imms would have to go through every ship, and basically, make it so energy can only gain lets say 1% on a large vessel, but can gain 5% on a small vessel… I think it is a giant hassle for something engineers are already being sought out for.

different levels of ships have CAPS for each stat. Gathorn told me all about this last timeline when i was developing ships and what not. A starfighter can’t go past x amount in fuel, weapons, etc. A gunship can’t go past x amount in fuel, weapons, etc. It’s a tier.

I can’t find the relevant change but ship stats were changed (maybe at the timeline change?) so that each ship has custom caps for each stat. Each ship has to have its maxes balanced and set when it is introduced into the game under the new system, which adds a little bit of time to the process.

I still say we completely rework how ships are built/modified/etc. 😛

I know this is a necropost, but I had an idea on this that might make ship upgrading a bit more interesting without reworking the entire system. Ok, so, when upgrading a ship, allow the various parts to be upgraded past their set maxes, but double the quota cost for each point spent above the max. Essentially allowing you to make sacrifices in certain areas to make the ship more powerful in another area.

neat! its like rerouting power from shelds or what not into a suped up laser or something. It’s like how the falcon has all sorts of stuff on it that shouldn’t be fittable yet it’s on there because he’s been working on it andp utting military grade stuff in it etc..

It would probably be to hard for the coding to work to make it use double quota for enhancing certain areas over their limit. Cool idea though.
