This occurred to me in the middle of the night for no reason, but why does Roll do what it does? Why doesn’t it remove targeting from the ship and work on any small-medium spacecraft (though a corvette would be pushing it…)? That’d be at least somewhat useful.

I agree too. It should do what it does plus remove targetting.

Because you’d not really in theory be breaking the lock, just avoiding the incoming fire. Perhaps if you rolled it should give you a small boost to ship dodge for 3-5 rounds? If you think about it a Star Destroyer is completely aware of everything within scanning distance and mostly everything within visual range that isn’t behind/on/in planets and obstacles. So all roll should really be doing is avoiding incoming fire more proficiently. All incoming projectiles lose lock upon a successful roll and you become a harder target to hit for x period of time(time during roll and reacquiring a targeting solution). Or just turn it into a low level viable piloting feat "Roll/Jink: Increase shipdodge chance by 25%"

In all actually, it was pretty hard for the capital ships to actually hit a starfighter when it was REALLY close to the ship. That would be an interesting thing to see, I think. If the chance to hit a ship was actually dependent on how far away you were, including making it harder to hit smaller ships when they are closer.

Well, it does work this way, just the opposite. The farther away the less chance you will hit.
