Not only revamp it to make other drugs, but include other drugs as well. For instance, here is a nice big list of potential ‘spices’ we could incorporate into LotJ.

[b:1e7ji563]Andris:[/b:1e7ji563] Raw andris, when mined, was tan and crumbling, and was originally used in this form; however, it was later learned that it could be refined to a white crystalline form that also provided a slight sensory enhancement to its users. Andris could be further refined into an addictive stimulant form that provided for even stronger sensory enhancement. [i:1e7ji563](able to see hidden without goggles)[/i:1e7ji563]

[b:1e7ji563]Avabush:[/b:1e7ji563] A drug obtained from the Avabush plant that that could cause sleepiness, or, when used properly, truthfulness. [i:1e7ji563](induce sleep, or RPed to be used as a truth serum during interrogations)[/i:1e7ji563]

[b:1e7ji563]Booster Blue:[/b:1e7ji563] A type of spice variant. It was made of out of industrial dye used for star ship manufacturing. When consumed it enhanced the user’s physical reaction time. [i:1e7ji563](extra attack in combat)[/i:1e7ji563]

[b:1e7ji563]Carsunum:[/b:1e7ji563] A rare and highly illegal spice variant mined on Sevarcos. Use of carsunum granted a boost of both mental and physical abilities as well as a pleasurable sense of well-being; however, once the spice hit ended, side effects could vary from jitters to death. [i:1e7ji563](could increase str and int/more damage in combat – raise % of skills faster)[/i:1e7ji563]

[b:1e7ji563]Giggledust:[/b:1e7ji563] A spice variant that was a sandy brown color and came naturally from certain flowers. Giggledust, as implied by its name, made everything seem humorous to the consumer. [i:1e7ji563](make user laugh, chuckle, snicker, grin, smile and giggle randomly)[/i:1e7ji563]

[b:1e7ji563]Glitterstim:[/b:1e7ji563] It is the name of a potent variety of the drug family "spice" that was mined on Kessel. It gave the user a brief, yet pleasurable telepathic boost and heightened mental state. It was a very valuable kind of spice, and tightly controlled by the Galactic Empire. [i:1e7ji563](increase int by 3/raise % of skills faster)[/i:1e7ji563]

[b:1e7ji563]Glitteryll:[/b:1e7ji563] A synthesis of glitterstim and ryll, was a drug produced on Ryloth that decreased the user’s memories. It was created by feeding ryll to the spice spiders that produced glitterstim. [i:1e7ji563](could erase the memory of a subject when injected)[/i:1e7ji563]

[b:1e7ji563]Grey Gabaki:[/b:1e7ji563] A plant named for its drab color when dried, gives off a light and relaxing smoke when burned. It is commonly used in cantinas, but some merchants also burn it to make store fronts a more relaxing environment for customers. [i:1e7ji563](basically ‘weed’ or ‘cigarettes’ of the Star Wars universe, usable just as a RP device)[/i:1e7ji563]

[b:1e7ji563]Muon Gold:[/b:1e7ji563] A lubricant that had a degrading effect on neural pathways and was therefore banned by the Galactic Empire. [i:1e7ji563](could take away from int, wis and dex and make you stagger or walk in the wrong direction occasionally, possibly also slurred speech)[/i:1e7ji563]

[b:1e7ji563]Neutron Pixie:[/b:1e7ji563] An extremely potent and very dangerous spice. Effects included ecstasy, increased reaction time, perceived feelings of strength and endurance, and resistance to pain. Withdraw symptoms included perspiration, weakness in the muscles, aching bones or joints, and extreme physical and mental torpor. [i:1e7ji563](increase str, con, AC, + attack – withdraw would cause the complete opposite)[/i:1e7ji563]

[b:1e7ji563]Pyrepenol:[/b:1e7ji563] Grants its abuser a sense of invincibility. [i:1e7ji563](your health and movement won’t decrease on your prompt but it will in actuality decrease while affected, you just won’t notice til it wears off/ could also be used a field ‘pain killer’ kind of drug for RP purposes or something )[/i:1e7ji563]

[b:1e7ji563]Thrust Head:[/b:1e7ji563] The street name for a powerful stimulant made of antianxiolytic and hyperemetic. It was injected into the bloodstream, increasing mental capabilities tenfold while increasing anxiety and causing extreme nausea. [i:1e7ji563](greatly increase the rate of % increase)[/i:1e7ji563]

Right then, now that the list is out of the way, on to other things. How quick you get addicted could be based off of CON as well as perhaps the length of the effect of the drug. HOWEVER, the lower your CON, the quicker you get addicted, but the longer the effects whereas the opposite would occur if your CON was higher. Also, death should be made possible by ODing and severe withdraw symptoms. Perhaps make a level based system:

Mild: Slight addiction, need to use the drug once in a while to keep from getting withdraw symptoms.

Medium: Drugs needs to be used more often to keep off withdraw.

High: Drugs needs to be taken very often.

Severe: Almost constantly on the drug.

Of course, for each level, you would have various withdraw symptoms from something as small as a jitter emote (which would need to be added) going off once in a while to losing stats to potentially death. There would need to be a counter measure as well, perhaps a medical skill called cure addiction where the doctor would be capable of purging the system of the addicted and help them back on there feet, but it’d be at a cost depending on the severity of the addiction. Maybe just some permanent loss of movement to permanent stat loss. Would make those think twice about abusing a drug and thinking they’ll be fine with a quick purge of their system.

One last thing, perhaps make certain spices come in an injection form, such as Avabush.

Well, that’s my two cents on ReVamping spice and what have you. Also need to include a credit to Wookieepedia for the spice information. Other than that, hope I have enlightened some of you and got the attention of the Imms. <!– s:) –><img src="{SMILIES_PATH}/icon_smile.gif" alt=":)" title="Smile" /><!– s:) –>

I like the idea of this too, dangerous trade-off to rush through a quick scientist/engineer. might lead to hordes of spice-junkie professors though.

I made a spice-junkie professor before it was cool. Also, I think Pyrepenol should just make the numbers on your prompt stay the same, even as you’re losing hp/mv.

Truth serum and making spice hypodermics. I like it.

Medical skill to tie in with spice refining, &quot;makeneedle&quot;.

Although, children, remember drugs can be a sensitive issue for some people and the mud is pretty strict on the atmosphere, so maybe my makeneedle thing is a bad idea. But truth serum, would be fun.

That was the idea behind Pyrepenol. I guess I should have clarified that. You aren’t ACTUALLY invincible, just perceived.

PLEASE. Do it. Drugs would be AWESOME if they were implimented as they should be.

      Also, who cares if people are sensitive about drugs? People are sensitive about child abuse, child violence, and kidnappers. As well as crime, death, and several other things that we so greatly enjoy on this MUD. So why scoff an idea like this, because Susie over there says &quot;Drugs are bad! Why’re they in the mud!?&quot;

I know several MUDs that have things that people would rather it not, but who’s to say? Hm? It’s the imms choices, and if they want to impliment fun stuff. They’ll do it.

I don’t think any of the ideas posted here really conflict with our atmosphere or taste ethics.

The point of the sensativity people express is due to the fact that there ARE players under the age of 15-18, who could very well be influenced by the game, in particular another character in the game they perceive as ‘cool’ and mimic in real-life.
For example, Bill is a rough and tough soldier that abuses spice, that Bobby (younger player) thinks is cool and decides that he wants to be like Bill in real life. Now the issue isn’t that Bobby shouldn’t be playing the game or that it’s anyone’s fault, the issue is that the influence was there and did, in fact, influence a young person.

I’m not saying Alcohol, drugs, violence, and the like should be removed, I’m simply pointing out WHY people get sensative about said subjects. I seriously doubt that anyone here is completely devoid of care for his/her fellow player’s well-being.

Not to be an asshole (even though I am at times), but other than maybe two or three people (who I know IRL) on this MUD, I don’t care for any of your well-being. You wanna do drugs and alcohol, have at it. Won’t bother me in the least.

On another note, stop complaining how a damn game is going to influence someone. The way I see it, it’s either the parents fault for not paying attention to the way their child acts and then NOT nipping it in the butt (cause a lot notice, but do shit or not enough) or you’re a grown ass person, and if you want to be an idiot and act like an imaginary person. Then I hope you enjoy the consequences.
