There needs to be an easier way to leave offline messages than bothering with datamem, datapads etc. I feel like if you have a datapad and a mail terminal there should be an easy way to just fire off a quick one line message to someone. Syntax would be something like:
quickmail <recipient> <message>
quickmail miros Please remember to keep being awesome – Zeromus
Sometimes you just gotta ask someone a question or remind them of something, not send a big grandiose letter complete with buffer nonsense.

I like this idea. Using notes has always been a bit of a hassle which cuts down on the likely hood that people will use features like in-game email to their fullest potential.

Let me clarify. I do not see a point to it. The mailing system is straightforward and not difficult to use.

More mail terminals would be nice though, and with uniform hailing locations.

It’s not that it is difficult. It’s that it is time consuming. Sometimes, you really need to send mail to someone, and you just don’t have the time to go through the hassle of writing out a disk. Personally, I think something like this should actually replace the mail system, and leave the datadisks for sending drones.
Now if you’re thinking “Well what if I want to take the mail from the mailbox so I can put it in my datapad?” I haven’t forgetten about you. We don’t need to overhaul the entire mail system. The only thing that Zeromus is really suggesting is adding/changing a way to send mail.
