      This would resemble the open/close functionality of the cloaks currently. You would simply type "open helmet" or "close helmet" and the mask on the helmet would slide up or down, revealing or concealing your face. This would only work if your helmet was covering, of course. This would make your restringed armor only work while your helmet was currently in the "closed" position. An extension of this idea would be to utilize the ‘restring’ skill and be able to choose the string shown to the room when you open the helmet.

      Such as::
      [code:kq20gae2]
      restring helmet suddenly reveals his scarred, disfigured face as the shield on his helmet slides back
      [/code:kq20gae2]

      Message shown to room::
      [code:kq20gae2]
      A being in thickly plated armor suddenly reveals his scarred, disfigured face as the shield on his helmet slides back.
      [/code:kq20gae2]

      Neat idea. Wouldn’t be hard to put in, I don’t think..

      That’s a sweet idea, actually.

      It would solve the annoying problem of having to take off your helmet to ‘show yourself’ to someone, and then when putting it back on having to heal a bunch of health… which really, from a ‘realism’ (read: believe-able-ism), standpoint doesn’t make sense anyways.

      This Idea sounds good <!– s:) –><img src="{SMILIES_PATH}/icon_smile.gif" alt=":)" title="Smile" /><!– s:) –>

      Gass this problem was solved by owning two helmets one covering one non both same stats just wear the second and you dont loose head cover or hp but you do loose restring till you reware the covering helm How ever johnsons idea would eliminate haveing to carry 2 helmets for the open close rp effect and make it more code worthy

      One of the first truly innovative ideas I’ve seen on here in a while. Like Flek, I’d just taken to carrying two helmets on chars where I needed to be able to reveal myself without waving a giant &quot;blackjack me!&quot; sign. As long as you could also set the message the room sees when you close your helmet, and maybe code in an action message (i.e. Joe Schmoe is here, his helmet open.&quot;), I’d be all for it.

      You do realise that if someone like a beautiful woman were to wear that helmet, and open and close it, it wouldn’t quite be right, right?

      Which is why you’d be able to set your own–he -did- say it worked rather like restring.

      I should be saying that to you. Since it was mentioned that the restring would be applied to the helmet.

      If you planned on selling the helmet or giving it to your mudwife you might make the restring a little more generic.. such as.. &quot;slides the helmet back, revealing the hideous face concealed beneath&quot; .. or it could be used in conjunction with $n and $s tags.. like &quot;$n(name) slides $s(his/her) helmet back, revealing $s(his/her) hideous face concealed beneath.&quot; .. lots of solutions to that one

      Or you could apply a restring to -yourself-.

      ‘helmetmessage &lt;blah&gt;’

      Yeah, that would be better. Like a mini-desc that you can write.

      It’d probably be easier to just have a ‘toggle restring’ command.

      I wholly endorse this idea.

      I, too, have purchased multiple helmets so that I could have a &quot;visor up&quot; and &quot;visor down&quot; helmet status.
