The following will be posted on Bladestorm, LotJ and Facebook. If you received this link you know me as Raistlin, Flek, Keilith, Nutz, or Simply James Jackson. This if linked to you is linking LotJ’s forums. It is the only forum I use that has general public access. My facebook is closed off and Bladestorm requires membership. Additionaly, I am not inviting theological discussion and I will not respond to it.

Today I had one of the scariest moments I have ever experienced. I think my family was watched over by a guardian angel. That is the only explanation I can think of that the situation stayed as it was and did not escalate.

Today I had a standard doctor checkup, nothing out of the ordinary. I usually go with my brother for support. (I live with his family and simply put they are mine. I help my sister in law raise two beautiful girls and I help my brother in any way I can as their Uncle James). Today we had to take the girls. Mommy was at work and our beloved aunt was in class. Girls went with. On the way there we arrived in downtown Houston. As we came to a stop light a man approached our car. He knocked on the glass and my brother rolled the window down a crack. The man asked for a ride. If it had been just us we would have probably told him sure man, Hop in the back of the truck we will drop you downtown. We had the girls so he was given a polite "no, we have kids." The man insisted and my brother firmly told him No. As the light changed we started to leave and the man leaped into the back of our truck. My brother slams on the breaks and yells to get out of the truck. I start to open my door and look at the girls. I think better of a fight I don’t know if he is armed or not and I will not endanger my nieces. I yell for him to get out and go. The girls look confused but they are not worried. I try to stay firm but not belligerent as to alarm the girls to this suddenly dangerous situation. We get the cells out, My brother calls 911. We give his description our truck make our cross streets. By this time the man is out but holding onto the side ready to jump in. He bangs on our window and keeps glancing back at my nieces.

The 911 dispatcher says a unit is on its way and HANGS UP on us. We wait my brother has his hand on the door ready to slam it into the man if he has too. Guy bangs, 10 minutes go by. A cop car drives by and does not stop. We lay on the horn and the cop keeps going. We call 911 again. A new operator does the exact same thing. We are pretty worried by now. This could go bad to worse in no time.

Finally a cop pulls up behind us. But she is not getting out of her car. The man looks back and starts to walk away quickly. My brother cracks the window again and waves at the cop. She gets out saunters up. She had no dispatch call and told us to go on our way she would go after the man. She took none of our info down but did go in his direction.

When all is said and done. We arrive, I am calm and play with the girls in the waiting room. The second I get called back and the nurse leaves. My knees hit the floor and I cry. I weep and I thank god for the lives of my girls. That nothing happened. I know today after everything that did go wrong. We were watched over.

That’s really scary, Flek. Where at in Houston did that happen? I go to the Medical District on a semi-often basis myself.

As with any town in America, the riff-raff in Houston are to be avoided. If you even give the slightest hint of compassion or submission, they drag it out and pounce on you (sometimes literally). It’s cold to say, but it’s just how you have to be for the safety of you and those with you.

My step-dad was at a gas station on Shepherd and a homeless man walked up to him and asked him for a couple of dollars. You can’t say no to these people, you can only avoid them. So he already had him in his trap so my step dad was going to give him a couple of dollars. When he pulled his wallet out, the homeless man pulled a knife on him. My step dad stupidly held his ground, but he was blessed in that the homeless man walked away instead.

The only place I’ve heard of this happening in broad daylight is like, in New Orleans. That’s really scary, but I’m glad everybody’s okay. When they beat on your window or come up to your car with a cup you just shake your head, wave your hand away and look away. (your doors should always be locked) Never, ever ever roll your window down. It’s heartless, I know, but it’s just what you have to do : Although sometimes they’ll be firemen collecting for charity or they’ll be with a church or something, and that’s usually okay.

I’m glad everybody’s okay, though. And btw, Houston PD is highly laughable. You can blame Bill White for that. (lol politics)

Glad you and yours are allright. As was suggested earlier I would definately get a ccw if you can. Houston is full of nutjobs and gangbangers/wannabes and degenerates in general.

It happened on the 6400 block of Fannin. I was headed to the UT Physicians building.

Thank you for the comments all of you. Our current plan is to contact HPD and start climbing up the chain. If that does not work, We are going media.

Ugh, Fannin. Hate Fannin. Do you watch Fox 26? You could "Take it to Akin" >.>

We don’t have TV in the house. So I don’t really know what that is. I will look into it though.
