there has been alot of discussion on expanding combat, so without further ado, two "new" ideas for blaster type weaponry
first off, the disruptor rifle
[code:1hiuqe60]On a basic level, a disruptor worked by using large quantities of blaster gas (such as Tibanna gas), many times more than a standard blaster. The energy beam fired by a disruptor was generated in almost the same manner as the particle beam fired by a blaster, though the beam used much more blaster gas. A disruptor’s internal components were quite different than that of a blaster’s, though. The blaster gas used to generate the beam underwent a considerably different transformation that formed the disruptor beam. The resultant blast was short-ranged, less cohesive, and extraordinarily powerful; it differed from a standard blaster in that it created an energy wave consisting of disruptive, nonharmonic energy pulses that excited a target’s molecules to the point that it destroyed the bonds that held their constituent atoms together, painfully. A shot from a disruptor rifle could do this in less than a full second, vaporizing a being almost instantly. A disruptor was capable of disintegrating a humanoid target, turning it to a pile of ash, and was quite effective against other solid targets, even capable of damaging starship hulls, though the massive amount of blaster gas used by disruptors made them inefficient and impractical for starship use.As a drawback, in addition to being illegal and short-ranged, disruptors generally only had enough ammunition for a few shots, and were incapable of firing rapidly or being set to stun. However, some disruptor pistols were capable of being set to overload, a setting which greatly increased the pistol’s power for a single shot. Unfortunately this usually resulted in the firearm being rendered useless, due to the weapon’s internals suffering damage from focusing even more energy into what was already an unstable form of tibanna gas particles. [/code:1hiuqe60]
in game terms we’re talking a short-ranged low ammo gun with the following arbitary attributes:
1.5x effective versus organic non-shielded targets
1.5x less effective droidsand in addition we have the ion blaster
[code:1hiuqe60]An ion blaster bolt disrupted electrical systems, overriding charges and melting fuses, destroying circuits and effectively rendering any kind of technology useless. The prevalence of assassin droids and war droids during and after the Great Sith War resulted the creation of advanced ion weapons to combat them. Ion blasters were developed following HK-01’s Great Droid Revolution, and continued to be useful weapons against mechanized forces. They were used by Galactic Republic soldiers to combat threats such as the technology-reliant Mandalorians and their droids, as well as the battle droids of the Confederacy of Independent Systems during the Clone Wars. Most Ion weapons did little damage to organic enemies, though the more powerful cannons could seriously injure or kill a living creature due to the raw power of the blast. Larger cannon versions existed, for taking out threats too massive for a hand-held blaster to deal with. [/code:1hiuqe60]
in game terms we’re talking about another short ranged medium(?) ammo gun with the following arbitrary attributes:
1.5x effective versus droids
1.5x less effective versus organic non-shielded targetsthe reason these attributes are arbitrary is because I’m just using stats that show what they’re intended for..but these numbers may not provide a good balance in terms with the other weapons.
these weapons would still not work as effectively versus shields

We already have disruptors in the code. They work very well….almost too well.
