So I was thinking, what if there was a possibility of a cyber being rejected from the body, like there was a roll even after the cyber was implanted, and the body rejected it having the person needing to have the cyber removed or death. This will make medical doctors a more needed class along with great roleplay.

Another idea is can limbs be chopped off? Feet, legs…hands, arms…This would be wonderful if they could, this would allow for the medical class to be at hand for any accident that could happen. Say a engineer was experimenting and making a grenade, BOOM! He failed, and his arm blew off. This would also allow for cybers to get damaged and need repairing, so we could have repair cyber in the game having the cyber maintenance.

      Ideas?

      Nice idea. Make both skills medical main only too. <!– s:P –><img src="{SMILIES_PATH}/icon_razz.gif" alt=":P" title="Razz" /><!– s:P –>

Limbs can be WOUNDed already, however, and there is a healwound.

It would certainly give doctors a better purpose than just installing cybers and cloning folks. :3

The medical class needs some serious work, in my opinion. Medical mains are needed virtually exclusively for implanting cybers (for free 90% of the time I might add) and on more rare occasions for cloning. There are lots of changes that could happen to make medics more useful, and needed in the game.

      [b:2tjzrwt5]First Aid[/b:2tjzrwt5]
      1) You shouldn’t be able to go from virtually dead to perfect health simply using ‘first aid’ and a medpac. Possibly limit it to only be effective if you’re within 500 or 1,000 hitpoints of your maximum, making it truly ‘first aid’ and not a magic cure-all skill. Or base it on a percentage of your maximum, much like the ‘condition’ system. &quot;A human male is in perfect health.&quot; &quot;A human male has some small cuts and bruises.&quot; If you’re injured below the level of &quot;small cuts and bruises&quot;, you’d have to find a bacta tank to recuperate in, or find a skilled doctor to patch you up.
      2) First Aid also shouldn’t be an instantaneous skill. It should take some time to disinfect cuts and staunch bleeding, more like the doctor skill does.

      [b:2tjzrwt5]Wounds[/b:2tjzrwt5]
      1) Wounds shouldn’t be limited to happening when someone is aiming at a specific body part. There should always be a chance to get wounded when fighting. Less chance on weak mobs, higher chance on hard mobs and PCs. &quot;I was out shooting womp rats and accidently shot myself in the foot, doc…&quot;
      2) Amputations. More than a few times people have gotten their limbs sliced clean off by a light saber. It seems only fitting that doctors would require a certain degree of skill in order to rig up a proper prosthetic. These would be an extreme version of a typical wound, able to be treated by only the most skilled of doctors. Possibly reduce a person’s dexterity or strength by a given amount depending on which limb was lost, then restore it after a prosthetic is fitted. I realize it’s possible to RP this sort of thing, however with the lack of RP that occurs during any PK situation, I don’t see it happening unless it’s coded in.

I could probably think of some more, but even these few things would make medics more useful, and fun to play. In my opinion.

&lt;Edit&gt; I just found another thread dealing with amputations and similar stuff, so I’ll link it.

I’d try to avoid any changes to medical that would alter the delicate balance of combat on the MUD. There are lots of other things that can just as easily be done with the medical class. Here’s some ideas off the top of my head:

      – Stat altering. I know it’s been a personal beef of mine that it costs 2k credits to try and train your stats, and that money goes nowhere. Figure out a way to make that player-based.
      – Physical alterations: Changes to skin color, hair color, etc. need to be done through a player.
      – Rather than nerf first aid, give ‘doctor’ a boost. Have it attach a flag to the player that trickle-heals them to full (temporary regen flag?), like a HoT from WoW.
      – Manufacturing drugs for stat boosts, affect flags, etc.

+1 to all of the above (with restrictions, but you didn’t mention specific functionality at all, so the +1 stays).

Addendum – All skills will kill RJ’s morts when used on them.

I’ve been tossing up Cybernetic limbs for a long long time. The forums always ended up dying. I’ve wanted them for a long time, a few of my characters have had IC cyber limbs. But they were mostly RP. I’d love to have coded cyber limbs.
