Master set datapads are SUPPOSE to be hard to find and hard to get. But they’re not. They are easy and pretty cheap. Therefore, I propose some new additions. Each level of datapad that the slicer is trying to remodulate it to, should have to have a certain type of circuit board and not just ANY circuit board. The higher the remodulation, the more expensive the circuit. This will at least raise the costs of master set and other types of datapads and perhaps finally start making them a little harder to find.

Perhaps start at 15k for medical circuit board and go on from there (i’d like to see AT LEAST hundred thousand credits or more for a master set circuit to depict the complexity of it, but that’s just me).

Also, I’ve noticed that datapads don’t seem to run out of battery power. Or least I’ve never ran out. Regardless, let’s bring it back if it was taken out? If it’s in, make it a little more noticeable perhaps? It should take an era for me to need a new battery for my datapad. Perhaps a certain amount of battery life taken out depending on the action and the length of said action on the datapad.

It’d be nice to see master set datapads (or even anything about basic) increase the range of some abilities. IE matchvector, jam and fakesignal. Also perhaps decrease the time it takes for certain skills to work. Combined with some feats along the same lines, it might actually make a slicer worth having and also increase the cost of master set datapads and make them a little harder to find.

In any case, I’ll be thinking up newer ways to limit the release of master set datapads. It’s just a little stupid imo to have the ‘best datapad possible’ being bought at a supremely low price.

Monitor_camera nukes batteries, but that’s about it.

Circuitry may not be the problem, perhaps you would need to re-write the datapad’s software?

This is an idea I thought up a while ago.

I think the way datapads are set up right now is backwards because MSTR’s are so common. Instead, ‘mstr’ should be more of a ‘commercial’ module. It has expanded note writing capacity, does all the basic functions, and can do any skill requiring a datapad up to like level 50. Beyond that you will need a specialized datapad.

Yea, that would be better in general. ‘master’ could just be the standard across the board up to a certain level like you said, then for the higher leveled skills, you’d need an actual slicer’s datapad or an espionage tuned datapad. Good call Walldo ol’bean.
