I see all of these places where you have to go halfway across the galaxy just to get ammo for your blaster sometimes, especially if you want the ‘best’ precreated ammo. But why not have an ability that allows you to make your own ammo packs, it could be on par or better than the best precreated ammo packs with the destruction and equipment knowledges.

And if you screw up, it explodes like a grenade!

Requires a battery, duraplast, circuit and superconductor?
Another new skill for engineers to work out what components produce the most premium ammo. Reduces the need to stockpile things like high-yields when they are pre-released before they should of been.

And they can sell large quantities in Bandoliers!

That would be cool, having to fly all over the place to pick up ammo is such a drag.

I like this idea, but heres the big thing, we’re not going to work on new engineering skills anytime soon. They already have tons and we really need to spruce up some other classes.

I’m not saying ‘No’ – just not right now.

Typically, engineering always has the most skills. Why? Because their skills don’t affect others so they can make whatever they want. Also..people need stuff and won’t complain about being able to get it easier from engineers.

Counterpoint, almost everything they make affects others in some way or another. They may not directly affect others, but they do indirectly through things they make. Engineers are literally the heart of everything.

However, in this instance, I agree with Ravaus. Engineers don’t need new skills at the moment (although defunct skills like imbue should be removed and gather, survey, and makestructure should be given a purpose or removed).

I meant they have no immediate, direct affect. Something like backstab or remote lookup on the other hand have immediate, direct effects on people. Making a blade is in and of itself ignorable. It takes someone picking it up, wielding it and then killing something to make it have an effect on anyone or anything.

      Probably. <!– s:) –><img src="{SMILIES_PATH}/icon_smile.gif" alt=":)" title="Smile" /><!– s:) –>

On a slightly different note… even though engineers have a bajillion skills, a lot of them (including the ones that work) are useless. I’m talking mainly about things like makeholster or makeshield. Nobody’s going to buy a holster from an engineer, because the NPC-sold ones are better. In my opinion, equipment made by an engineer who spent some time getting a good formula should pretty invariably be better than stuff that NPCs sell.

So.. I say they don’t have as many skills as it looks like they have.

Gem Crusted Fabric and Xoorzifelt make comparable holsters to the NPC’s. Shield’s can also be made that way but the only good crystal for it is in a place where most engineers won’t survive…At least, I won’t survive if my combat is an indication.

Shields on lotj dont work like other swr’s bro. They have a charge (max up to 2000) and they absorb energy when activated. When the power runs out or the shield takes 2,000 damage you can then be hit. What they are talking about is every once in a while a shield will appear in game that affects another stat lets say like movement by 100. Engineers cant make a shield that will do that so the pbase just buys that shield.
