      It’s ME again!
Ok, I’ll cut straight to the point. I find it kind of annoying (mildly, but it -is- bugging me) that you have to "datamem eject" followed by "hold disk" followed by "mail post" in order to send a message. Why not make mail functions part of the datamem command? Obviously you’d still need to be at a mail terminal, because the denizens of this galaxy haven’t ever invented e-mail – probably some game balance mechanic I don’t understand – but the actual command would be as follows:

      datamem mail check
      – checks for new mail

      datamem mail download <number/all> [copy]
      – downloads the selected message, or all messages, to the user’s datapad, if there is room. The ‘Copy’ argument (optional) would download the message but leave a copy on the terminal.

      datamem mail send <#>
      – mails the selected note in the datapad the same way "hold disk" and "mail post" would, but skips ejecting the disk and holding it.

I don’t think these are actually necessary changes, but I think they’d be cool! ^.^ Plz gimme feedback.

How is this insisting? Further, I’m getting tired of you ribbing on my ideas. If you can’t add something constructive, DON’T EFFING REPLY.

Pointless: can be done in the current code without a datapad and using fewer words.

Somewhat useful: can be done in the current system, but takes multiple commands PER message; the only usage of this that I find remotely worthy of implementation would be the "all" functionality… a couple dozen commands to get your inbox into your datapad versus a single command is nice, and those dozen commands would be a bitch to set up an alias for.

[b:2nhaq4p6]Pointless: if you want this so bad, it can be done with any decent client through an alias.[/b:2nhaq4p6]

Message from Walldo: It’s very hard to enforce rules and stuff here, so whenever there is something inappropriate I am going to make it nice and bold so everyone can see what NOT to post.

Yes, I actually think that these ideas are cool and time saving. However, would this render mail terminals useless?

I say make it a slicer skill/feat to be able to operate a datapad as a mail terminal and for those who can’t get the said feat/skill, mail terminals will continue to function as they do now.

From what I understood, the OP was saying that the command would not function as a mail terminal, it would merely be a coded-in alias to save people two commands, something that can be done in even Gmud (hence the pointless remarks, Walldon’t). However, a skill to allow a datapad to function as a mail terminal (or possibly as a note terminal if you have access to said terminal, which would be pretty pimp) would be down-right sechsey.
