      What if there were bonuses for logging out properly instead of going linkdead? Or penalties for going linkdead.

      Quicker/slower regeneration of hitpoints/MV etc.
      A lag on all commands inputted

      Things of that nature. Stop going Ld wherever you are/on the bridge of your ship/in a taxi!

      how about this

      incentives based on room flag

      like if you are going to idle or log out, if you do it in a hotel flagged room you get some kind of bonus or if you are going to bot study or w/e you could get a bonus from doing it in a library flagged room

      edit i know this is kind of tangential i am somewhat drunk and i cant think of a good reason to log out instead of ld but i dont really think incentivizing logging out is a good thing either i guess

      maybe take out scientific mind (lol what a bad feat) and make it so you gain a scientific mind or w/e for a certain period of time if you’ve been logged out so skills go up faster

      edit to avoid double post

      but again that would be incentivizing logging out so i dont like it i am full of bad ideas i dont like

      I think they do that on purpose so you don’t idle on capital ships all goddamn day and actually leave.

      I think most games have a &quot;rested&quot; bonus for sleeping in a proper place. If you logout in a proper place, maybe you wake up with a five minute buff like scientific mind.

      However, I do like a lag of commands if you fail to rest properly…

      I like the bonus for resting properly, (Someone’s been playing Skyrim!) but as far as LD’s go, why penalize people who suddenly have to leave, or their internet goes out? Furthermore, won’t you just be able to rid yourself of the LD negatives by rushing to a hotel, quitting, then logging right back on when you next come back?

      I could see a Skyrim-ish solution and create a new flag that’ll check for your clan. Logging off in a clanbase could give you a temporary boost of +3 hitroll, logging off in your own home gives you a movement bonus etc.

      There should be a way to determine how long the player was logged off for, though, since we don’t want people going on and off simply to replenish the bonus.

      Some sort of benefit to logging out via the quit command instead of just going link-dead would be nice. There would have to be some kind of timer on any negative you gave for going link-dead, like a minimum time to be link-dead before you start to accrue a penalty, so that someone with a shoddy internet connection wouldn’t rack them up if they had a bunch of soft disconnects on their network or something like that.

      Maybe some +luck (+2 lck 500 ticks) or some affect for logging out properly for a certain amt of time (1 hr+) would be cool <!– s:) –><img src="{SMILIES_PATH}/icon_smile.gif" alt=":)" title="Smile" /><!– s:) –>

      The linkdead penalty is for people who do it on purpose instead of going to log out somewhere. It’s lame and annoying. That’s why I suggested a time limit before the penalty starts to get registered, for people who get disconnected due to their internet or something like that.

      I’ve already had an instance this timeline where I absolutely had to go while I was stunned. The ones who stunned me wouldn’t/couldn’t perm/hospitalize me and I sat there stunned waiting for them to decide what they were going to do. Eventually, I was forced to go LD because I had to go. There are also other things that can cause someone to go LD (internet disconnection, etc.) which would be serving only to punish those who have no control of such things. You can’t really do it on a case by case basis because it is impossible to tell if someone is doing it on purpose or not unless you are physically looking at their screen.

      As for the [Hotel] logging out bonus, I also say no. As I said before, this isn’t Legends of World of Warcraft. It isn’t really something important and definitely not something that needs to be implemented. There are other things that are more important that need to be looked at/fixed/adjusted [b:1xntersp]in my personal opinion[/b:1xntersp] (key phrase there). However, if the Imms think this is something this should be put in, there isn’t much I can say about that. All I can do is voice my objections to it.

      Were it implemented, this would be the only thing I would approve. Scientific Mind really needs to be removed/reworked anyway.

      Yeah but the point of this forum isn’t to prioritize ideas, it’s to brainstorm.

      I don’t really know how it works in Skyrim since I really haven’t played much Skyrim.

      I can understand the opposition to a penalty and while it’s easy to say &quot;just log out right, duh!&quot; I can definitely understand that just isn’t the case a lot of the time.

      I think something like bonus experience while leveling or increased damage against mobs or something me be good. Any other ideas of what bonuses might be?
