My main argument against CN is rather a simple one.

If we had Chaotic Neutral, very few, if any, average players in the mud would play as characters that weren’t it.

Essentially, it would give players an almost "get-out-of-jail-free" card when dealing with perms.

"Why’d you kill him?" "I felt like it." "ok…" *checks alignment, chaotic neutral* RPC member: darn.[/quote:16y3xm40]
we get that already with true neutral :p

Except, You know, Chaotic Neutral isn’t "Whatevah, Whatevah, I do what ah wahnt". It’s simply not caring about laws or being good or evil… Most smugglers would be Chaotic Neutral, because most of them aren’t doing anything out of malice or "The goodness of their hearts", it’s just pure money. People who PLAY Chaotic Neutral as a "I do whatever I want and you can’t stop me", I fail to see why you can’t punish them or change their alignment. It’s really not as horrific as you’re trying to portray it.

Also, "Why’d you kill him?" "I felt like it." sounds like chaotic evil to me.

You could make similar arguments against other alignments.

RPC: Why did you break spyapp and attack your superior?
Neutral Good or Chaotic Good: Because he was unfairly hurting that poor slave and it was the right thing to do
RPC: Damnt, he broke a rule and we cant touch him

Should we just get rid of all alignments then?

You cannot do shit without a spyapp not even if you have thousands of rights to do so. That person would be restored <!– s:P –><img src="{SMILIES_PATH}/icon_razz.gif" alt=":P" title="Razz" /><!– s:P –> Though it maybe another story if you are the superior.
