Do you play video games besides LotJ? (Yes, they exist!)
Do you like to play them on the internet?
Do you want to play them with other players of LotJ? Wait, no, don’t hit ‘back!’ I swear, we aren’t all super weird and creepy.
Let’s network together!The LotJ Steam group: h[url:2k05mmeo]ttp://steamcommunity.com/groups/lotjgamers[/url:2k05mmeo]
The Xbox Metagamer tag: add ‘LotJ Gamers’
What the hell is a metagamer tag? In essence, it’s a semi-crappy workaround to there not being clan/group support in xbox live. ‘LotJ Gamers’ is a [b:2k05mmeo]silver[/b:2k05mmeo] (free) account for XBL that I started up and manage. Instead of adding a bunch of random LotJers to your friends list then forgetting who they are in two weeks (which I do all the time) everyone friends ‘LotJ Gamers’. Then, by using the ‘friends of a friends’ list, you can see everyone who is friends with LotJ Gamers.
This only works if you participate, so, participate.
[b:2k05mmeo]World of Warcraft[/b:2k05mmeo]
[b:2k05mmeo]Warhammer Online[/b:2k05mmeo]
@Mutters plays on Open RvR server Praag.

You could make a list of the most(by matter of opinion) popular MMO games and edit it into the first post with a list of who plays what and which server, if applicable.

This is an article I wrote about some good free games to play. All the games are predominantly single player since my campus network is equivalent to 1989 Prodigy speeds.
[quote:nygoyd6g]I don’t need to tell you we are in the midst of tough economic times. College students are looking to keep themselves entertained by any means possible, as cheaply as possible. While video games have long been a college past time, students’ entertainment budgets have a hard time keeping up with the rising costs of gaming consoles. With the lack of money, students might do something as crazy as spend time doing homework or otherwise furthering their studies. Lucky for you, I’ve scoured the Internet to find the best computer games available for free. Some are old favorites released for free. Some are spoofs of classic games. They all have one thing in common: they are free. Not demos, not trials, free.
Grand Theft Auto 2
Website: <!– w –><a class="postlink" href="http://www.rockstargames.com/classics/">www.rockstargames.com/classics/</a><!– w –>
While it might not have the same graphical punch as GTA 4, this classic game packs all the hooker-killing, flamethrower-wielding action you’ve come to expect from the Grand Theft Auto label. Rockstar was kind enough to make this game available for download on their website. Spend hours running around the streets of Anywhere, USA, shooting anyone and everyone in sight.Domination
Website: <!– w –><a class="postlink" href="http://www.yura.net">www.yura.net</a><!– w –>
The classic game of world domination! Who doesn’t like a good engaging game of Risk? This open-source version of the classic board game allows users to create their own custom maps (I’m hoping for a Lewis U map). It isn’t the best-looking game, and I’m pretty sure the computer sometimes cheats on the dice rolls, but if you are looking for a simple game to play during those long and arduous Cult and Civ classes, this is your game.Secret Maryo Chronicles
Website: <!– w –><a class="postlink" href="http://www.secretmaryo.org/">www.secretmaryo.org/</a><!– w –>
It’s Mario only….not. Everything that makes Mario great is here with minor graphic changes. Tiny Goombas look more like chicken nuggets and the Koopas walk with a little bit more ‘tude, but all the old standbys are here: coin collecting, mushrooms and fire plants. The project is open source, meaning community members can create their own levels, guaranteeing countless hours of fun.Frets on Fire
Website: <!– m –><a class="postlink" href="http://fretsonfire.sourceforge.net/">http://fretsonfire.sourceforge.net/</a><!– m –>
Sure, a keyboard is not as awesome-looking as a Guitar Hero guitar controller, but don’ forget: it is free! Gameplay looks EXACTLY like Guitar Hero but there is one major point that might even make this (gasp) better than the actual thing: any user can lay down instrument tracks over any mp3 and then upload it for others to play. A quick Google yielded several databases of downloadable songs, some with over 2,500. If you have an Xbox 360 guitar controller, yes you can plug it in and use it.Red Alert
Website: <!– m –><a class="postlink" href="http://www.ea.com/redalert/news-detail.jsp?id=62">http://www.ea.com/redalert/news-detail.jsp?id=62</a><!– m –>
This is my favorite on the list; countless hours of my childhood were dumped into this strategy game to end all strategy games. Pitting Allies versus the Soviets in this alternate-timeline World War 2 setting with a bit of a science fiction flair. Giant tesla coils, legions of attack dogs, and the infamous Tanya commando are all back in this classic RTS.
N
Website: <!– m –><a class="postlink" href="http://thewayoftheninja.org/">http://thewayoftheninja.org/</a><!– m –>
Be warned: This game is hard. The graphics are simple but the gameplay is pretty impressive. You play the role of a ninja (that’s where the ‘N’ comes from) in an attempt to get to the end of the level by running, jumping and climbing while avoiding enemies, bombs, trap doors and spike pits. There are 500 official levels but, like other games on the list, there is an included level editor for an endless amount of user-generated content. [/quote:nygoyd6g]
A fantastic multiplayer game for free is Allegiance: <!– m –><a class="postlink" href="http://www.freeallegiance.org/">http://www.freeallegiance.org/</a><!– m –>
[quote:nygoyd6g]Allegiance is a multiplayer online game providing a mix of real-time strategy and player piloted space combat gameplay. Initially developed by Microsoft Research, the game was later released under a shared source license[2] in 2002 and is now maintained and developed by volunteers[/quote:nygoyd6g]

I play BF2142 and some Steam games regularly. Left 4 Dead is fun, I play some CS:S on a very customized "WC3 Frozenthrone" type server (expanded to include tons of races… pretty fun once you get used to it).

[b:3l9msvx8]Deus Ex Mod 7 Years In the Making Released[/b:3l9msvx8]
‘The Nameless Mod’ is a total conversion mod for Deus Ex that has been under construction for the last [b:3l9msvx8]seven years[/b:3l9msvx8]. That’s a long time. It was just released this week.
[quote:3l9msvx8]In Forum City, the Internet is serious business. As its name implies, the city is the physical embodiment of Internet forums and bulletin boards. It’s more like The Matrix or Tron than Second Life, however, as the troubles of the city are no laughing matter. Embracing the style of Deus Ex, Forum City has as much crime and conspiracy as the world of JC Denton — but most citizens would have it no other way.[/quote:3l9msvx8]
…It’s a mod based around the INTERNET. The website promises 15-20 hours of gameplay, which is pretty respectable. I am still downloading it but initial reviews seem to be pretty decent. Probably the awesomest thing is a built-in IRC client that can be accessed from in-game terminals. As I play more, i’ll let you know what I think.
