Learning languages needs to be re-vamp. And after a brief discussion on OOC no more than literally, two or three minutes ago, I’ve decided to post my idea.
Perhaps we could get rid of all that lang learn spam and just set it up where you only need to type it once. However, instead of having the language set immediately to 100% (as some people were saying should happen) I believe it should be set to 10%. You will then need to actually LISTEN to the language and actually LEARN how it sounds. This would progress until about 50% where by then you are able to attempt to speak it, albeit garbled and shitty. But now that you are able to both speak and hear it, progress in the language will become easier and should eventually allow you to become proficient and fluent.
The rate at which the language increases would be decided of course by the imms or whoever makes those executive decisions. Also, to add a little more punch, if you don’t speak or hear the language for a while, you would lose your edge, in other words the percentage would decrease slowly. This of course is just adding realism and everyone knows about the little realism / versus fun / practical spiels that are abound. So that will be up in the air. Anyways. Tis my idea. Dissect and discuss as necessary.

But yeah. I don’t know about the decreasing part but start at ten percent and try to decipher till fifty then try to speak.

You’re right. My apologies. I though I gave that credit. But yes, the INITIAL idea is mine, but I also threw in other peoples ideas after I through out mine. And thusly, wrapped it all into one idea you see before you.
