I’m not sure whether this is more off-topic or brainstormitorium material so here it goes.

I love the ooc channel on lotj, but I hate when it gets in the way of what I’m doing, i.e. people are having a heated argument that I couldn’t care about either way and their retorts keep popping up when I’m fighting or walking around, and it just fills up my screen.

Long ramble short, would it be possible to have the ooc connected through an irc channel so I could have it up in a separate window? I’ve seen this done in a couple games and it was kinda cool to be able to log on just ooc and stuff.

Possible?

Not through an IRC window but it’s pretty common to have different channels go to different windows. What client do you use?

I am all for this, Zak.  I use Mushclient, Walldo.  If there is something for that, it’d be greeaaaat =]

I use mush as well. If you could explain how to do it if it’s already in the system/client, that’d be great!

Copy and paste that into a notepad file and save it as lotjOOCcapture.xml

Make a blank world file with a fake address named OOCLotJ.mcl

Go to file, plugins, then add lotjooccapture.xml minimize your main screen and then adjust size so both windows can be seen at the size you desire.

Forgot to mention you can gag it on your main window as well with a couple tiny code edits that I don’t remember right now but if you ask me on OOC/tell I can figure it out.

Yes, but gagging it in the main window means it only shows up in the second window.

Cronlan’s snippet works, but in my opinion the cleaner way to do it in MUSHclient isto use the new miniwindows.

The plugins I have written are there, check out LotJredirector – it’s the only one you’ll be interested in right now (the rest are proof of concepts from another MUD). There is also an LotJColourCopy plugin that lets you copy with color codes.

I’ve been using Ravaus’s redirector for quite some time now. I can give my recommendation for it. It is an absolute godsend and much cleaner than the Flek/Ilyena capture script. No need to create dummy worlds.

Putting in my opinion. Ravaus’ version  is great. Works like a charm and is easy to set up.
