Remember the one time, where there was this leech thing? And everyone got infected with something? That caused them to die, or lose HR/DR over time?

Well, I liked that event. Was fun. Would like to see more diseases tossed around.

This is a great idea. And broken bones would also be great.

Massive yes. It’d be cool if it was somehow contagious, though, instead of being random or just effecting everyone. And if it had some other commonly-agreed upon symptoms so that we could all get some awesome RP out of it beyond &quot;I’m starting to suck at combat&quot; <!– s:D –><img src="{SMILIES_PATH}/icon_biggrin.gif" alt=":D" title="Very Happy" /><!– s:D –>

Or maybe it could only effect people if the code detects them mudsexing. SpaceAIDS.[/size:1oqyrgch]

It’d be really awesome. Didn’t something happen with Nim Drovis last timeline with some sort of deadly mold or something?

Mudsex should be illegal, it’s really dumb. if you can’t get your jollies off without text-based-sex, you have a problem and should seek help.[/size:3m0t99et]

That mold quest was the worst thing ever.

      I liked that mold quest <!– s:( –><img src="{SMILIES_PATH}/icon_sad.gif" alt=":(" title="Sad" /><!– s:( –> Since I didn’t have to bot science all the time to get to level 30 <!– s:P –><img src="{SMILIES_PATH}/icon_razz.gif" alt=":P" title="Razz" /><!– s:P –>

But diseases could be, for example, some kind of a muscle disease, which would lower your strength. Or cataract. It would bring more RP possibilities for medical mains.

The mold quest had good intentions I think…the mud just kept crashing and reseting all the work people had done…and a large majority of the code with it just didn’t work…and so on. People got bored of it quick because no matter what you did, you didn’t do anything.

As for the topic, I’d love to see something like this go down. However, I think things that permanently affect people’s characters (other than getting killed) will ultimately piss players off more than they’ll enjoy the quest. Sure, you can say all day that &quot;such is life&quot; and &quot;in real life you can’t decide if you get a disease or not&quot;, but players don’t play this to mimic real life. They play it to be different. I consider each PC as more of a &quot;hero&quot; level (even the ones that are boring nobodies) and the NPCs are the ones that should be affected by the diseases. Unless of course one volunteers to possibly be affected by such things. I dunno, I just see a whole lot of backlash from these types of things. Call me cynical I guess.

      First disease implemented:

MUDAIDS – Possibility of being contracted whenever you mudsex with someone. The more you mudsex, the higher a chance you have of contracting/spreading it. Incurable. Permanent death within Era guaranteed (unless you’re named Irving Johnson).

Although I agree with you, Puma, a bit, I think this would actually bring extra fun and more stuff for medical main to do, other than cloning and cybernetic surgeries.

Diseases shouldn’t really make you die, unless someone developed a disease like that, although that could be a more of a poison?

Diseases should only have a minus, and should be healable without a doctor, it’d just take some time. Perhaps a feat could make your disease go away faster.

I’m not saying it won’t be fun, -I- personally think it could be great and even have some ideas for it….However, that doesn’t mean I speak for the whole mud…Its just that these types of things often crop up, a group of people have fun and love it..and then there’s a large majority of people that get annoyed by it because its an unaccounted for variable in their preconceived plans. If that makes sense?

True, it does make sense. but perming, getting out of fuel, etc, also gets in the way of RP and other stuff, usually <!– s:) –><img src="{SMILIES_PATH}/icon_smile.gif" alt=":)" title="Smile" /><!– s:) –>

Okay, so make semi-permanent changes. You lose your stats until you get an antidote, which would require inject to administer. Make the antidote hard to get? Make it so if your stat reaches a level the mud can’t handle you die? (I don’t see a problem with that, since your stats won’t get that low unless you just choose not to get the antidote)

I agree that permanent changes will piss people off and that if the negative is TOO drastic it’ll piss people off. But if it’s incredibly contagious, that might ease that up a little. People aren’t going to be as pissy about losing STR if -everybody- has lost STR.

I think it could be really fun.

      Haha. I remember the mold quest. I also remember stashing some mold in a locker for .. later use <!– s:D –><img src="{SMILIES_PATH}/icon_biggrin.gif" alt=":D" title="Very Happy" /><!– s:D –>
