I’ve always kind of wondered about this, and think it would be a good idea. Sort of along the lines of how leadership works now, I think hybrid classes would be cool.

Take an example… say choosing "Espionage" Gives your character a bonus 100 level in Espionage….

Now say there was the hybrid class "infiltrator" Class infiltrator gives you 60 levels in espionage and 40 levels in slicer.

I suppose that isn’t the neatest or most ‘useful’ example, but I imagine you can all see what benefit of this?

*Shrugs* Just a small idea I had.

Nah. I don’t think so. Levels, such as they are, are set up for balance. Now, instead of ‘hybrid’ classes, I’d like to see something along the lines of NWN style ‘prestige’ classes, which can only be taken by meeting certain criteria and completing a complimentary quest.
      Example:
A VERY long time ago, I suggested a class called Assassin, which allows for the basic and advanced (but not master) use of EVERY weapon skill in the game (including basic and advanced lightsaber use, but not crafting) as well as the creation of poisons, and every ‘get past the lock’ skill as well. Also they’d get disguise, advanced disguise,
Vanish (a more powerful version of hide) and stealth (a sneak command that doesn’t cancel hide/vanish when moving).
The downside? Restricted to small spacecraft and light or medium armor. Also, by taking this class, you’re changing your main, and your maxes would be rearranged, lowering your current level if it was higher than your new max.
Criteria for getting this example class:
      1) Claim at least one bounty via claimbounty
      2) Adept at least one weapon skill, one stealth skill, and one bounty hunting skill
      3) Complete the Assassin’s quest

You guys realize that all of the ‘mains’, usually, don’t just give you levels in that main? I.E. Engineering gives some piloting and I think smuggling, Espionage is Espy/Smug/Slicer, Scientist is everything… BHing is BHing and combat? Yeah, they give penalties as well, but that just means that you need to think about the character before you make it. I know I do a lot of theorycrafting before I take a character concept into a reality.
