Here’s a few simple things to make cloning better:
– Only one clone per character, not two.
– Make cloning require sciences to work. Medical, chemistry and data.
– Make cloning start at 15% or 40%, not research up to 90%. 100% clone should be A Big Deal.
– Make vials cost 500,000 credits each, or if you can still research cloning to 90%, 1.5 million credits.
This should be an incredibly expensive, time consuming process that only the truly dedicated would undertake. This would make it that. As it is now, you can roll up a cloner in a hilariously small amount of time. It shouldn’t be like that.
Thanks.

Cloning needs to be a process that costs far more than it does presently. The fact that the average clone goes for 1 million credits and an average cargo ship is sold for 2+ million is ridiculous. How valuable this resource is needs to be properly reflected, and how rare they ought to be taken into account. Not every average Joe should have a clone.

I agree. I tried to make cloning expensive but no one else is interested in that sort of thing, so I just kinda quit trying too hard to clone. I was real real bummed out.

Clones are annoying. Best way to fix them is to remove them again.

Not to point anyone out in specific, but there are a lot of people who just wake up as clones and pick up exactly where they left off regardless of how much time has actually passed between cloning. All they are, are Green Mushrooms people can pick up to give them another shot at being the same turd they were a day prior.

But on the opposite hand, god forbid someone rp their clone as a different person than their former, or properly follow not knowing things. There is a double, if not triple standard. No matter what you do, you are going to be criticized, ridiculed, and generally shit on.
That being said, I cannot stress how one second chance should be more than enough. Walldo made an argument last night that if cloning were a privilege commodity, it would never be used on “who it was meant for.” I would be interested in seeking solutions to that while still keeping clones less common. The average joe should not have a clone. Perhaps an impartial cloning guild or something similar which can restrict clones given only to people who are of overall consequence, such as firsts and seconds?

5 million credits sounds like a good starting price for a clone. A specific cloning clan also sounds kind of interesting and could add unique RP. Being given up by the people that cloned you, or protected for instance when you wake.

Being “generally shit on” is what LotJ is all about, but that’s a completely different story and off topic.
As far as an “impartial” cloning guild goes… come on. This is LotJ we’re talking about, while we love it, we have to be realistic and know that there is no such thing as an impartial clan. You’ll always get some M.B.™ who can’t keep their shit straight and would push to have their besties cloned all the time.
Average Joe’s shouldn’t be cloned because they’re fucking average. I doubt that any of the cloner races would even bother with them if they came to them like “Yo broheim can you clone me please???” I think they would look at them, give them an evaluation, review it carefully, then tell them to go stick a pineapple up their ass. They wouldn’t want their reputations tarnished by some meatbeast running around with an infinite number of lives, causing people grief in the fast food lines. They would want prime specimens that they could be proud of.
“Did you hear about that 183 star General that the Kaminoans cloned?”
“Yeah bro, I heard he saved a boatload of kittens in his day.”
“Word?”
“Word.”
Not:
“Yo bro, did you hear about that gas station clerk that the Kaminoans cloned and then he went and shot up a bank because the gas station manager didn’t give him a raise?”
“Yeah I heard, those long-necked aliens should be shut down. Don’t they have a reviewing system?”
“Fo’ real, son.”

How to ACTUALLY fix cloning:
When someone is cloned, and dies, the clone awakens like it does now except the password is randomized and given to another player’s account.

I brought this up on OOC but thought I should post it here. Back in the day we had a planet called Roche that had a shack with a secret back door that you could take a shuttle to Korriban from. So for us who were in the Imperial Remnants that was our way of getting home… perhaps we could have a similar feature for Kamino then the planet doesn’t have to be hidden legitimately needing navcharts but the ability to get there would be hidden at first, then the shuttle could cost something like 1.5 million credits to board (similar to the ice palace ferry). Up the price for vials, and add a 1 million credit rental fee to get into the cloning chamber itself and the price of cloning and availability would be more limited. Instead of people flying off to Khomm or Kamino to get the clone they’d have to head somewhere in the core which could be controlled by warring clans. A Rebellion general etc would have to sneak past orbital defesnes, patrols on teh ground and the likes to get to Kamino in the first place. Lastly, take out one of the cloning planets so that players can’t wake up on either or so enemies have a better shot of killing your clone etc…
What do you guys think about any and all of the above ideas?

Reserving cloning for people who are the elite members of major clans or able to farm up the most credits is a terrible idea that will only lead to more stagnation. When cloning was re-enabled the first time around we got a static universe with very little character turnover at anything but the lowest levels. The end result was a game that was much less fun to play than one without cloning.
“Hey did you hear about that General the Kaminoans cloned?”
“Why yes I did because he murdered all my friends yesterday.”
“We finally managed to corner and kill him but, WELP, he still has a clone.”
“I thoroughly enjoy playing this world where my own death is permanent while certain other people get multiple lives because they are in a position of power or friends with those who are!”
“Agreed, old chum.”

Cloning is a joke. People were oh so scared to do anything last Era. Then cloning gets put in and within a week or two, the era was over. Now that cloning is in, people can do whatever the hell they want and know that they have two failproof chances to do it again. It’s like everyone is their own Palpatine clone.
But hey, that doesn’t matter. As a matter of fact, let’s make it worse by reserving the usage of such a broken skill to the status quo and their AIM friends. Wonderful idea!
Clone is a ridiculous skill and a crutch people lean on heavily to actually get anything done or to be the same douchebags they always are. It was (very) marginally better when clones had a chance to fail.

Everything is much better when there’s an up and downside. Like if there’s cloning, there should be a way to counter it.
Can we get a clone sabotage skill?! So that we can lower the percentage of survival.. of someone’s stored clone (it’d have to have an almost pk valid like reason, can’t just randomly do it)
and a less harmful, memory replacement skill too!? the clone would wake up with the made up reality that was given to them.. Not sure how it works when people wake up, but it could pop up to them like a message, ‘You remember blah blah’, that was written by the person who memory sabotaged it
