So a very common question is how to use droids, etc, etc. I will give fatty stacks of points to whoever helps write a better help droid and/or a help droidfaq explaining exactly how to use droids. Points won’t be restricted to one person so if ya think something is missing, holla.
Just post your content creation in this thread.

HELP DROID, HELP DROIDFAQ
Right now, droids are personal assistants. They help build ships, help hold things, help translate in person and on comms, and help fight in combat.MAKING DROIDS:
To make them, reading over ‘help makedroid’ is very helpful. Gather the materials that you need and begin constructing the droid of your choice. It starts in the inactive, disabled phase and from there you can modify it to your liking. Using renamedroid, you’re able to name the droid to any canon, droid-like name that contains a number. Sometimes the system for that is finicky even if you are adding a number, so you’ll have to try to move the colorcode or place the number elsewhere. It is not okay to use &&x to black out the number and the droid must be inactive before being able to set the name.
Using upgradedroid, you are able to change your droid’s focus to translation, combat, or industry. Once you’ve set that, you then change the behavior of the droid to either assist, destroy, inactive, ignore. Assist helps whichever droid type to help you with their focus. Destroy is for a combat droid. Inactive means it is not in use, or was just built. Ignore means it stops assisting.
Now, you’ve got your droid named, focused, and behaved.USING DROIDS:
To use your droid, you can force them to do things with the ‘DUTY’ command. A few options to use are: duty droid emote, duty droid leave (makes it stay), duty droid follow, duty droid currentcom, duty droid textcolor, duty droid assist, duty droid ignore, duty droid get all, duty droid drop all. Note: not all in-game commands work (IE: droids cannot speak on comlinks).
You can trade your droid with ‘tradedroid’ for any amount.CLAN DROIDS:
You can also make clan droids and use them via the ‘clandroids’ empowerment given to you by your clan leaders. Clan droids are funny creatures. At the moment there are a few things to know about them. For a droid to become a ‘clan droid’, they must be inducted. You cannot have a personal droid at the same time as a clan droid, nor can you have multiple clan droids. While some think it is a good idea to make many clan droids to sell to people (with tradedroid), it actually is not a good idea unless the people selling them have the ability to outcast (leader, one two of a clan). Why? Because there is a problem with clan droids. When someone is traded a clan droid that is not outcasted, it is still considered a clan droid even if someone in the clan is not in control of it. It can be seen in the list of clan droids via ‘droids clan’. If the person you sold the droid to goes link dead and fully logs out, the droid disappears forever. This is a known bug. In that respect, clan droids are mostly good for internal use and personal droids should be sold to customers. To gain control of a clan droid, you must have the empowerment. From there, you go to the room with the droid and use the function ‘controldroid (droid)’. It will automatically follow you. To stop using one, you use ‘controldroid none’.DROIDS THAT TRANSLATE CHANNELS:
If you’d like to get technical, you can set up a translation droid to translate channels for you and your friends. It’s easy to set up but a pain to maintain. First, the droid must be stationed on a ship or other “quiet” room through ambience. The droid can be either a clan droid or a personal droid, but keep in mind if it’s a personal droid, you cannot have another droid at the time. If it’s a clan droid, you can stop control of it when you need to log out or make another droid. Give the droid a microphone found in game and a comlink. Set the mic first so you know exactly what channel it’s going to be on. You will need to monitor this channel to hear the translation. You can either tune the comlink first or make the droid tune it via DUTY. Make the droid change his current comlink by ‘duty droid currentcom comlink’ and set him to assist through DUTY as well. Now, the droid should be translating the channel on the comlink you gave to the droid. If you log out, there is a copy over, or the mud crashes, the droid will need to be reset using this very same method. It can be cumbersome, but to some it’s worth it.>>>RANDOM THINGS TO KNOW ABOUT DROIDS:
– Droids have different sizes . Each size has different stats and requires a different amount of materials to build.
– Quadrupeds can hold the most weight, so while you might think a simple cylinder droid is best for your engineer ship builder character, a quadruped might actually be better for an armorcrafting engineer with low strength.
– Clan droids will disappear if you go link dead with them in your control.
– Translation droids can be used to translate channels as well as in person words.
– Combat droids will sometimes attack you. To remedy this, log out of the game or kill the droid and have another built. This is a known issue.
– Droids will confuse the ‘group’ and ‘follow’ functions. If you are in a ‘group’ with friends and one of you has a droid, sometimes you will be left behind if you are not the leader of the group and following someone else.
– Droids will not follow you into your home. You must grab and carry them in. This also goes for one seater ships.
– Currently droids can be ‘repaired’ with medpacs. Repairdroid does work if you’re able to find ‘droid parts’.If I’ve left anything out, feel free to say something.

There is one thing I have come across that I feel can be included in the RANDOM THINGS TO KNOW ABOUT DROIDS:
-Droids will confuse the ‘call’ command. When you have a droid following you, it will count against the number of mobs you can call with the call command. For instance, if you only have 30 Leadership, you can only call one mob. However, if you have a droid following you, you cannot call, for instance, a message drone as the droid counts against your call limit.

I am a fan of the compact… so something like this would be more useful for me, and I could look at the helpfiles of the skills I have questions with. I like guides, but the list of commands at the top of some help files like help datamem usually give me all the information I need.
Commands associated with droids:
makedroid: makes the droid
upgradedroid: changes the function or behavior of the droid
droidstat: gives you an update on your droid’s status and location
renamedroid: can be done while your droid is inactive, giving it a new name
tradedroid: trades your droid to another player
duty: duty action, used to command your droid to do things for you
duty droid leave: tells your droid to quit following whoever it is following
duty droid follow: gets your droid to follow you
You can also order your droid with duty to: textcolor, emote, drop, get, currentcom…
controldroid: allows you to control a clandroid if you have the proper empowerment

I like what Bai did, but it is to long for one file. I think it could be broken down with the end of the files suggesting other helpfiles to look at. It would keep it from going crazy long, and be better than here are commands.

Like I said on OOC: help pilotingfaq
walldo asked for a faq, he got a faq.

Well I wasn’t on when that was said or I didn’t catch it. I turn it off and on, depending on how I feel and if I really wanna listen to the silly banter. You did a good job on it.

Walldo, I’d appreciate if you’d read this. I wrote it because you asked for it and you haven’t even acknowledged it. I feel offended.

Is there a way we can implement being able to use ‘call’ to call a messenger droid even if we already have a personal droid following us and with the limit of having only one mob with you at a time? Like a personal droid shouldn’t effect the ‘call’ command in my opinion

Very good content bai but far, far too long for what we need. I’ll take a look at cutting it down.

i see. when i see “droidfaq” i think “pilotingfaq” which is in depth. oh well.

Still good work though. Piloting faq should be longer, more complicated than droids.

And yet there hasn’t been a help file since they were put in, and people constantly are confused on how to work them.
