This could either be slicer /or/ espionage, or maybe even a cross-class thingy that makes it require both… I haven’t really decided yet. Three-part idea.
Part 1: MakeRepeater – Allows the player to build a signal repeater.
Part 2: InstallRepeater – Allows the player to install a signal repeater in a BROADCAST room.
Part 3: AccessRepeater – Allows the player to remotely broadcast to the signal repeater, which in turn broadcasts to the galaxy from the BROADCAST room.
Will also require an additional skill for removing them, might make another good addition to espionage. The way I see it, making and using the item would be a slicer skill, but planting and removing it would be espionage.

Wasn’t this idea brought up with the concept of adding defensive turrets to bases?

I don’t know. I got it off the top of my head tonight, while plotting up some stuff for a character.

So accessrepeater would let you use a Broadcast room, without actually being in one? To what end?

To what end? RP. Networkhack is supposed to be ILLEGAL, and it’s up to the players to enforce it as such. I’d say lower networkhack to a level more accessible to players, and include this as a higher skill. This gives slicers a little more fun stuff to do, and it might embolden slicers enough to start doing more clan against clan stuff. Besides, slicers are supposed to be the ghosts of the MUD. They should be untraceable!

Maybe failing at this skill could send a message to the governing clan of whatever planet it happens on that indicates where the player is or who they are?
Likewise you can have some sort of counter-skill for espionage/slicer mains (maybe the opposite of whatever class actually can use signal repeaters) to block signals/track signals/track the person broadcasting.
