Not sure how this could coded and what not, but could spice up say a bit with people using emoticons. It would [b:3gxspd74][i:3gxspd74]ONLY[/b:3gxspd74][/i:3gxspd74] work with the emoticon at the very end, just like it is displayed in the example below:
SAY Yes, I am the best Jedi that ever was
Then people will see
Luke smiles and says, "Yes, I am the best Jedi that ever was."
Here are the emoticons and what they do:
smiles and says
looks undecided and says
) smiles broadly and says
looks skeptical and says
:> smiles impishly and says
. looks thoughtful and says
smiles with a wink and says
:B drools and says
laughingly says
sticks out his/her tongue and says
:* blows a kiss and says
looks surprised and says
:,) says through happy tears
:S looks confused and says
:@ angrily says
frowns and says
( sadly says
:C very sadly says
:,( says through unhappy tearsJust a few emoticons to work with, others could be added if this were to be implemented.

yeah we have tones and emote. I’m not doing this. Emote was a pain in the butt as it was.

Or you could just make an alias so it would do it yourself.
I know someone who has <!– s:P –><!– s:P –> convert to the sticking-your-tongue-out social.

I have to say, this might be the most goofy idea I’ve seen on here. You’d have to be pretty damn lazy to need to have a coded system to turn a <!– s:) –><!– s:) –> into an emote.

But yeah, I agree. We don’t need this, but you could easily make aliases for yourself <!– s:) –><!– s:) –>
match [i:3t1z7uro]say * [/i:3t1z7uro] to [i:3t1z7uro]emote smiles and says, "%1"[/i:3t1z7uro] if you use MUSHclient. Dunno how other clients work.

I think this is a great idea for a possible issue that may arise in the future. For the time being, I have to agree with the other posts in that this can be accomplished through the user’s client. Perhaps if we get a sudden and sharp rise of newbies who use emoticons in their says, this idea would come in handy to gently guide them in our rp style.

I’ve always been fond of the "beat them until they cut it out" method. <!– s:D –><!– s:D –>

If you can’t do ’emote frowns’ or ’emote winks’ then wtf are you actually doing playing here. Its already a minimal effort to emote what with the changes to the emote system. Seems a bit pointless to dumb it up with this?
I agree with Kora, brow beating until they conform, make them one of us!
