Idea for a new command, one that could replace interplanetary drones:

Drone: Would now only function if you were sending something to someone on the same planet.

Courier: Would function essentially like a message drone, except it could go between planets. With this in mind, it would take a lot longer, maybe 10 minutes or so to get to its destination, to factor in the time the ‘courier’ would have to travel. Couriers would only stay long enough to drop off everything they have and would then immediately leave. Couriers would have a ‘courier bag’ that they would drop/give filled with the credits/items they mean to send, and would only do so if the receiver is not afk in addition to being in a place where you could normally receive drones.

It is kind of lame that it takes two or three minutes to send a drone from Ryloth to Coruscant, and I feel like couriers would balance it out in regards to the distance involved. Sure, not all planets are a 10 minute trip apart, but others are much, much further and it would still be a convenience to have something like this instead of making the trip yourself.

In what situations would you use a drone instead of a courier?

      I see your point.

Perhaps drones could still travel between planets but carry less load than a courier? Credits + disk could be carried by drone, but not an entire set of armor, or a weapons order, a bag filled with supplies, (other heavy things).

I like the idea personally, but I think the level of call should be looked at too. For those characters who aren’t level 30 (I think it is) – no drone. Maybe the courier would be a way to work for lower leveled leadership. Though I still find it crazy that call is at that level because I’ve had a lot of characters who don’t get 30 levels of leadership and really…how hard is it to call a drone – a service that should be universal?

Personally, I’ve always thought the drones are a silly idea in general. Imagine, would you, several hundred mini-droids flying from planet to planet. Equipped with their own hyperspace capabilities…

Though, this could be argued, by way of the Probe Droids in Empire Strikes Back. So I don’t know how to really argue how it works. XD

Well, we’re always going to have that discussion on “realism” in the SW universe, but let’s face it: Comlinks didn’t work over long distances. Some concessions have to made to provide playability. At the same time, I think drones are useful addition, I just wish ALL players could use them. I say make it leadership level 1. Kinda off topic for this thread though, sorry.

Not entirely, you’re still talking about drones. XD But I see what you’re saying.

Still kind of pointless as long as drones have Godlike AC and mitigation.
